For a comic book movie franchise that has never reached the heights of most Marvel or DC films of the last two decades, "Hellboy" has remained shockingly resilient. To that end, Mike Mignola's beloved character is set for yet another big-screen reboot in the form of "Hellboy: The Crooked Man." This time around, the character will be headed back to the 1950s for a folk horror adventure based on one the most celebrated storylines from the comics.
This will be the character's first film since 2019's "Hellboy." Starring David Harbour, it proved to be a critical and commercial disaster. Be that as it may, Millennium Media is set to try to bring the character to life once again with a lower-budget take on the material. So, when will you be able to see the movie? Who is playing Hellboy? Who is directing this time around? We've got all of...

It found fame courtesy of The Beautiful South, but it’s hardly a dream holiday destination – and when the girls arrive, there’s a dead body in the freezer, a cannabis factory in the swimming pool, bags of heroin scattered around the house and vicious Irish gangsters who want to get their hands on the lot.

To celebrate the release of Danny Boy, the new drama feature airing on BBC Two this week, we had the pleasure of chatting to actor Leah McNamara about the film and her role in this real-life story.
Danny Boy is the story of a young man’s journey from medal-winning hero to alleged killer, and his search for truth in the fog of war. Leah plays the wife of Anthony Boyle’s character Brian Wood. The drama richly explores the effect Brian’s experience has not just on him, but also on his family: his father and ex-soldier, Gavin, his mother Margaret, and his wife Lucy, played by McNamara.
Speaking on the show, McNamara told us about the pressures of portraying real-life people, how families and indeed spouses deal with the aftermath of war and all it encompasses as well as how Covid helped them produce an even sharper and more thrilling film.

Two warring teenage twins mix like oil and water — and have the emotional battle scars to show for it — in director Hugh O’Conor’s “Metal Heart.” This coming-of-age film delivers plenty of sweet sentiments about sisterhood, kinship, and honesty to its target market, though the package that surrounds it isn’t as unique as one would hope.
Goth girl Emma (Jordanne Jones) and her bubbly blonde sister Chantal (Leah McNamara) are not identical in any way, shape, or form. Emma is withdrawn, forlorn, and pessimistic, whereas her fraternal twin is pretty, popular, and prissy. However, the two must find common ground when their parents abandon them for the summer. It’s the pair’s last hurrah before they go their separate ways: Emma’s bound for college, and Chantal plans to parlay her blog into a big business. This bonding opportunity would be ideal quality time together if the siblings actually got along,...

"I hear you're having some issues... Want to talk about it?" Kaleidoscope has debuted an official trailer for a horror thriller titled Nails, about a woman who wakes up in the hospital after a brutal car accident. She discovers that she is paralyzed and trapped inside her own body. Forced to communicate with an artificial voice program and hooked to a breathing machine, she becomes convinced that a terrifying presence called Nails exists inside her hospital room, and attempts to convince everyone that he wants to kill her. Shauna Macdonald stars, along with Ross Noble, Leah McNamara, Steve Wall, Charlotte Bradley, Dennis Bartok, and Richard Foster-King. This also doesn't look that great, but maybe I'm just not into this kind of ghost horror story. I'm also a bit bothered by the guy trying to imitate Anthony Hopkins, not too original. In Dennis Bartok’s debut horror flick, Shauna Macdonald is an injured athletics coach who learns the hideous secret of the hospital in which she is a patient
Writer-director Dennis Bartok’s mildly diverting debut horror film is a cheerfully derivative exercise in jump scares, dark shadows and low-budget-driven aesthetics. In Dublin, hyper-fit athletics coach Dana (Shauna Macdonald) is hit by a car while out running. She wakes up with a respirator in her throat and serious injuries in a spooky hospital that hardly seems to have any patients, even though her nurse, Trevor (comedian Ross Noble), complains bitterly about being overworked.
As Dana slowly recovers and learns to use a laptop to communicate with her caregivers, husband (Steve Wall), and teen daughter (Leah McNamara), she learns about the hospital’s hideous secret: years ago, a nurse there killed children, died and then seemingly transmogrified into a variant on internet-meme-turned-urban-myth Slender Man,...
