Emily Jollands
Emily Jollands (Gervers) was born in a town called Lower Hutt, near Wellington, New Zealand, in June 1981. Her parents did a fair amount of traveling, and had also spent some time in Brazil since leaving university. Emily only lived there until she was two and a half, when the family moved back to England. Emily still likes to think of herself as an honorary Kiwi! She really loves that country - wide open spaces, beautiful scenery and lovely people.
Emily started off playing the piano, when she was four. The family always had a piano in the house, her dad is very musical and her mum loved to sing, so she was surrounded by music from a very young age. Her dad had to put wood blocks on the piano pedals so she could reach them. Emily got into singing properly when she got to secondary school, and her music teacher put her forward for an audition to play Cinderella in a touring children's Welsh National Opera production, in an Oxford theatre. She was amazed when she got the part, and went on stage for the first time. Since then, she has been singing her heart out at every available opportunity.
Emily is singer and pianist of the tribute band Rumours of Fleetwood Mac.
