Exclusive: Caroline Chikezie (Power Book II: Ghost) and Princess Adenike (Nanny) are leading indie short film A Beauty Supply In Queens, a drama based on the true story of a Nigerian family who opened one of the first Black-owned beauty supply stores in Jamaica, Queens, NY, ten years ago.
The film, currently in post-production, “delves into the early challenges the family faced in an industry heavily guarded by gatekeepers, showcasing the strength of family and community”.
Directed by Oluseyi Olatujoye and written by Adenike, the film also has Chikezie producing under her production company, Spark of the Divine Entertainment. Shalom C. Obiago also produces. The ensemble cast includes Clem Cheung, Paul Wang, Angela Chew, and Angella Katherine.
The producers intend to develop the project into a feature or series after a festival run. Executive producer is Amona Media, whose previous projects have been featured at the Rhode Island International Film Festival,...
