This year’s narrative feature competition winner was “Bob Trevino Likes It,” which was directed and written by Tracie Laymon and stars Barbie Ferreira and John Leguizamo. Meanwhile, “Grand Theft Hamlet” topped the documentary feature competition.
“What an extraordinary week of film and TV premieres we’ve had here at SXSW, and there is more to come through Saturday,” said Claudette Godfrey, VP, Film & TV. “Our theaters have been bursting with incredible and vocal audiences celebrating the exceptional and diverse work in our lineup, and we’re so excited to celebrate this year’s jury and special award winners!”

Filmmaker Pippa Bianco first attended the Cannes Film Festival in 2015 with her short film “Share,” which won the Cinefoundation section. The feature-length version of “Share” was produced by A24 and premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival before landing a special screening slot at this year’s Cannes. During this year’s festival, Bianco kept a diary of her experiences leading up to and following the screening of her film, and shared them with IndieWire.
Entry 1
It’s surreal to be heading to Cannes. I’ve been once before when we premiered the short version of this film a few years ago, and standing in the airport now I feel the same feeling. For me, festivals can be exciting but overwhelming — I feel much more comfortable behind a camera or at computer than I do facing an audience. With that short, I was continually reminding myself to enjoy it, that this might never happen again,...

Initiative behind Lady Macbeth chooses projects for year-round development lab.
Creative England’s low-budget feature initiative iFeatures, that has credits including the Bafta-nominated Lady Macbeth and 2017 Tiff premiere Apostasy, has chosen the 12 projects and teams to take part in its new-look lab format.
The new system will see 12 projects from first-time filmmakers taken through an entire cycle of development. This will include support for all aspects of the creative process, from inception to the stage when they are ready to be introduced to the market. This replaces the previous model of developing an initial 12 projects for early development, and then...

There is something very likable about Matt Berry, and it’s not just his awesome voice. The fact that we see him in many British comedies shows just how talented he is, and with Toast of London: Series Three we see him at his best.
It would be easy to believe that Steven Toast is Matt Berry, the character feels like the ones we’ve seen him play before. In Toast of London though we see him sending up the stereotypical “Luvvies” acting community that we usually see haunting the streets of London looking for their next job.
Each episode of the show typically sees Toast being given a job by his “old school” agent Jane Plough (Doon Mackichan) and given some bad advice by his housemate Ed Howzer-Black (Robert Bathurst). What makes Toast of London interesting though is not only the outlandish characters that we meet, but also...
