Following his conviction in November, Sam Bankman-Fried is awaiting sentencing for the massive fraud that brought down his much-vaunted Ftx cryptocurrency exchange. Making the case for a 40-to-50-year prison term, federal prosecutors have now submitted a list of the disgraced CEO’s bad ideas for spinning his company’s bankruptcy in the weeks after it collapsed.

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) used a new appeals court ruling made against infamous pharma fraudster Martin Shkreli to support her bid to ban former President Donald Trump from New York’s real estate industry.
In a filing last week, James’ office told Judge Arthur Engoron, who presided over Trump’s civil business fraud trial, about the new appeals court ruling against Shkreli.
In this ruling, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed a lower New York federal court’s order.
The order banned Shkreli for life from the pharmaceuticals industry due to his attempts to block competition for a drug, which he increased the price of by over 4,000% overnight in 2015.
Through his efforts, Shkreli raised the price of the antiparasitic drug Daraprim from $17.50 to $750 per tablet.

Amid Anna Sorokin‘s house arrest in a New York apartment building that has been condemned as imminently perilous to life, she’s attempting to capture outside attention and relieving her boredom in the most quotidian way: starting a podcast.
“So many people became famous for bad things and were able to kind of segue it into something different,” she recently told The Associated Press in her East Village apartment.
“The main theme of my podcast is productive rule-breaking,” she said of “The Anna Delvey Show”.
For now, she wants to reimagine her public image to shake her reputation of being a con artist and a scammer.
“I’m on 24/7 house arrest. I’m only allowed to leave for my parole check-ins, my Ice check-ins and for medical emergencies,” she said. Behind her is a life-size cutout of her likeness — created by artist Kenny Schachter — which, like Sorokin herself, is wearing an ankle monitoring device.

Elon Musk says Twitter will enact a general amnesty for suspended accounts next week.
The billionaire continued his ad hoc strategy of making policy by Twitter poll, asking users on Wednesday, “Should Twitter offer a general amnesty to suspended accounts, provided that they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam?” He did not specify which laws.
A majority (72 percent) of the 3.1 million users voted in favor of the amnesty for blocked accounts, a group that includes former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke, former Trump advisors Steve Bannon and Roger Stone, right wing writer Milo Yiannopoulos, singer Azealia Banks, pharma bro Martin Shkreli and neo-fascist group the Proud Boys.
“The people have spoken,” Musk tweeted when the poll had ended. “Amnesty begins next week. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” he tweeted, using the Latin phrase that means “the voice of...

House Lannister of Casterly Rock is one of the Great Houses of Westeros, boasting one of the richest and most powerful families in all the land, and oldest dynasties. For "Game of Thrones" fans, we remember them as the debt-paying house of golden-haired lions like Cersei, Jaime, Tywin, and Tyrion, but in "House of the Dragon," we're saddled with Jason *checks notes* yes, Jason Lannister. Okay, not just Jason, also his twin brother Tyland (both played by Jefferson Hall) who sits on the king's council. When we first meet Jason in episode three, he's immediately shown to be as Lannister-y as humanly possible, wearing his conniving and power hungry motives on his sleeve, but without any of the charm or wit of the family we'd see hundreds of years later.
When Jason first arrives, he's looking for help from King Viserys (Paddy Considine) with the Crabfeeder, but immediately gets distracted...

Ghostface Killah is set to release NFTs based around previously unpublished lyrics the founding Wu-Tang Clan rapper wrote over 20 years ago.
The latest high profile artist to jump in on the buzzy tech craze, Ghost tells Rolling Stone he was looking back through notebooks of old lyrics — some of them over 20 years old — as he was getting ready for the 25th anniversary of his debut solo album Ironman. He and his team decided those lyrics would be a good foot in the water to determine how the Nft marketplace would fit for him going forward.

Rounding up the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood, as voted on by hundreds of film executives, The Black List has been a strong resource to clue one in on projects to potentially anticipate, but first, to kickstart Hollywood on bringing them to screen. Today we have this year’s edition, as voted on by 375 film executives.
Topping the 2021 edition is Daniel Jackon’s Cauliflower, which follows the tale of a high school wrestler battling a bizarre infection in his ear. Coming in second was Lily Hollander’s See How They Run, following a blind mother who moves into a remote farmhouse with her young daughter as the mystery surrounding the previous inhabitants grows.
Other scripts feature the true stories of Kanye West’s creation of The College Dropout, Martin Shkreli, Rocky Aoki, Nike and Michael Jordan’s endorsement deal (not to be confused with Dennis Rodman’s 48 Hours in Vegas), Michael Bay,...

The Black List, an annual ranking of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays, has unleashed its 2021 edition — a smattering of delicious pop biopics, true crime and even a psychodrama about Mickey Rourke appearing on “The Masked Singer.”
Founded in 2005 by Franklin Leonard, the list surveys top studio and development executives asking them to share the scripts they adored but haven’t yet greenlit. The rankings are then cross-referenced, and popularity is calculated by the frequency a title appears (the “mentions”).
The top script on this year’s list is “Cauliflower,” an intense drama from writer Daniel Jackson.
“Under the cruel guidance of a mysterious coach, an ambitious high school wrestler struggles to become a state champion while battling a bizarre infection in his ear that both makes him dominant in his sport and threatens his sanity,” the synopsis reads. The script was mentioned 32 times across rankings. Jackson is repped by UTA and Bellevue.

Sweet Girl finds Jason Momoa and all of his mammoth screen presence in John Q mode. Directed by his longtime collaborator Brian Andrew Mendoza, the Aquaman star plays Ray Cooper, a tried-and-true family man forced into the unthinkable. Admittedly, it is hard not to smirk at the need to include intense scenes of fight training early on to justify how an “everyman” who looks like Jason Momoa is able to fight like Jason Momoa.

In a breezy open letter, Daniel O’Day explained how much his company planned on charging for a course of remdesivir, one of many possible treatments for Covid-19. “In the weeks since we learned of remdesivir’s potential against Covid-19, one topic has attracted more speculation than any other: what price we might set for the medicine,” O’Day wrote, before plunging into a masterpiece of corporate doublespeak.

If you like your superhero comic-book movies with a truckload of angst on the side, “The Old Guard” might be just what you’re looking for. Or if you like your brooding dramas best when they come with a high body count, this could be the movie for a nice punchy weekend.
“The Old Guard,” which premieres on Netflix on July 10, is a formidable hybrid. It’s based on a comic book series by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez about a group of immortal warriors who have been spent centuries quietly dueling the worst people they can find on the planet, but for much of its two-hour running time it focuses not on the battles but on their melancholic aftermaths. It gives Charlize Theron another chance to kick serious butt, which we know she does very, very well, but what you might take away from her performance isn’t her...

John Oliver examined the conditions that have allowed Covid-19 to ravage prisons and jails across the United States — and called for a wave of inmate releases to prevent swaths of unnecessary deaths — on Last Week Tonight Sunday.
Prisons and jails have been hotbeds for the virus for months, and cases have climbed significantly over the past few weeks amid new spikes around the country: There are now more than 68,000 infected inmates and prison deaths linked to Covid-19 are up 73%. As Oliver pointed out, neither prisons nor jails are built to...

Martin Shkreli, the infamous “pharma bro” who jacked up prices on lifesaving HIV/AIDS medication and earned himself a seven year prison sentence for fraud, will remain in jail after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit affirmed his 2017 conviction, NPR reports.
The three judges overseeing Shkreli’s appeal all ruled against him. Along with having to complete his seven-year bid, the judges also affirmed the ruling that came with Shkreli’s conviction that he would have to forfeit over $7.3 million in assets — a sum that included the one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album,...

On the hierarchy of 2019 villains, Martin Shkreli ranks fairly low. But there was a time way back in 2015 when Shkreli, the so-called “Pharma Bro” best known for jacking up the prices of life-saving HIV/AIDS drugs by more than 5,000 percent, was dubbed “the most hated man in America,” and seemed deeply proud of it. Now, Shkreli is reportedly planning on making a comeback of sorts from the confines of prison, where he is currently serving a seven-year sentence for securities fraud.

Benjamin Brafman will seek court permission to depart as Harvey Weinstein’s defense attorney, both Weinstein and Brafman said in a joint statement Thursday. The news was initially reported by TheWrap on Monday. The exit must be approved by Judge James Burke in New York.
“Both parties have agreed to part ways amicably and Mr. Brafman has agreed to cooperate fully with new counsel for Mr. Weinstein so as to ensure an orderly transition,” Weinstein and Brafman said in the joint statement. “Mr. Weinstein praised Mr. Brafman for his legal work to date and Mr. Brafman reiterated his belief that Mr. Weinstein would be exonerated of the charges that have been filed against him and Brafman personally wished Mr. Weinstein the best of luck as he defends the case and the accusations that Mr. Weinstein has vehemently denied.”
Weinstein added that he will announce his new legal team by early next week.

Early in Gary Shteyngart’s funny, frightening new novel, Seema — wife of Barry Cohen, a morally handicapped and wildly successful hedge fund manager — recalls her earliest impressions of him. “A man that rich couldn’t be stupid,” she’d thought. Now, as their life together verges on collapse, she wonders: “Was that the grand fallacy of twenty-first-century America?”
So starts a tale told in the run-up to the 2016 election of Donald Trump, as Cohen takes flight from real and perceived demons, on an Kerouac-ian/Odyssean cross-country Greyhound journey. As Lake Success maps his downward spiral,...

“Jason Statham fights a shark.” Say the phrase aloud, let the words swirl around in your mouth like a fine wine. Better yet, let’s up the ante a bit: “Jason Statham, he of The Transporter and Crank movies, fights a giant, toothy, prehistoric shark.” There is so much promise in that sentence, so many wonderful expectations inherent in that high-concept idea. You think of the British action-movie star, a bruiser whose muscles have muscles and who resembles nothing so much as a bullet with stubble, and worry that the...

Wu-Tang Clan's next collab is gonna be really weird ... is what we'd say if this pic with ex-FBI Director James Comey was taken anywhere near a recording studio. Truth is, Meth and Ghostface have some pressing biz with Comey's old boss ... and might have hit him up for advice. Attorney General Jeff Sessions currently has...

One of the investors on "Shark Tank" says he'd shell out the dough to buy Martin Shkreli's rare Wu-Tang Clan album now that he's going to jail ... but there's a catch. Our camera guy ran into Fubu founder Daymond John, who tells us he'd absolutely be willing to drop $2 million Wu-Tang album, "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin" -- but wouldn't just sit on it like Shkreli did ... he'd make his money back by selling it to the public.
