Contestants on the long-running reality series Survivor do whatever it takes to win the $1 million prize. Alone cast members venture into the wilderness with minimal supplies for a chance to go home with $500,000. But for Naked and Afraid participants, going on the long-running Discovery Channel survival show is all about the bragging rights.
Do ‘Naked and Afraid’ contestants win money? Matt Wright and Steven Lee Hall Jr. in ‘Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing’ | Discovery
Unlike many other reality shows, Naked and Afraid survivalists don’t sign up for the promise of a big payday. Those who manage to complete the show’s grueling 21-day survival challenge don’t win any prize money. The reward is simply knowing that you’ve been able to last for three weeks in the wild with no clothes or food, and only limited supplies (such as a knife or cooking pot).

Naked and Afraid is one of many reality TV shows where contestants try to overcome nature’s most brutal conditions in a survival format. Since its premiere in 2013, the Discovery original series has grown in popularity by leaps and bounds, with multiple spin-offs emerging, like Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing.
As the survivalists compete against their extreme environments, many contestants suffer cuts, bruises, and more. Here are the worst injuries in franchise history … so far.
7. Burned genitals
Season 15 of Naked and Afraid saw Sam Mouzer suffer a serious injury to his penis. According to TMZ, Mouzer and his partner were sleeping beside a fire. The fire suddenly burned his “little soldier’s helmet.”
Fortunately, the show’s medic was able to treat the injury and prevent an infection from developing. Despite Mouzer’s report of feeling lighthearted during the ordeal, the burn wasn’t too severe for him to quit,...

Naked and Afraid’s toughest challenge yet is drawing to a close. Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing switched up the format of the long-running survival reality show, pitting 12 all-star survivalists against each other in a no-holds-barred fight to the finish. The person who makes it to the end walks away with a $100,000 grand prize – a first for the show. So, who will emerge victorious? Fans will soon find out.
The ‘Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing’ finale airs July 16
There’s just one episode left in Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing. In the July 9 installment, the remaining six survivalists were whittled down to just five. Matt Wright – who’s lasted a total of 215 days on previous Naked and Afraid challenges – started the episode with a nasty leg injury that only got worse as things progressed. He came in last on a water-carrying elimination challenge, knocking him out of the competition.

Naked and Afraid is a reality show like none other. The Discovery Channel series drops pairs of people into remote locations and leaves them to fend for themselves – without food, water, or clothing. With just one survival tool each (such as a machete or fire starter), they’re challenged to last 21 days in the wild.
Unsurprisingly, many people don’t make it the full three weeks. Medical crises, loneliness, and hunger have all prompted people to tap out early. But thankfully, no person’s Naked and Afraid journey has been cut short for the most serious reason of all: death.

Naked and Afraid cast members are put into some serious, and potentially dangerous, situations. Over 15 seasons participants have dealt with tropical illnesses, infected wounds, hypothermia, and more. But no one has ever died on Naked and Afraid.

A couple has marked Valentine’s Day in unforgettable fashion by getting engaged live on This Morning.
The soon-to-be-newlyweds appeared on Tuesday’s edition (14 February) of the ITV daytime programme in a special segment, dedicated to romance.
Dan had arranged to publicly ask his partner Ellen to marry him with the This Morning producers ahead of time.
Unbeknownst to Ellen, secret cameras were placed inside a London café where they were having breakfast.
Then, at a crucial moment, fellow customers revealed the words “will you marry me?” under their shirts, as Dan dropped to his knee.
“Since the day I met you Ellen, you make me happy, so happy every day,” Dan began his speech, before referring to their child.
“You’re the perfect mum to Arthur, and I just want to spend the rest of my life with you – which is why I want to ask you to marry me.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield cracked up laughing at a photo posted by Grant Shapps that appears to have airbrushed out Boris Johnson.
Posting on Twitter this week, business secretary Shapps shared an image showing him and two officials in front of a Virgin rocket at the spaceport in Newquay, Cornwall.
However, eagle-eyed Twitter users noticed that the former prime minister had featured in the original photo, which was taken in June 2021, but appeared to have been photoshopped out of the image.
Shapps has since deleted the tweet, with a source telling The Guardian that he hadn’t been aware the image had been edited when he posted it.
“Obviously he wouldn’t endorse anyone rewriting history by removing the former Pm from a picture,” they said, adding that Shapps was “proud to serve in Boris’s government”.

There has been a lot of drama in this season of Naked and Afraid Xl.
Literally hours after he stripped down in Ecuador, participant Charlie Frattini severely twisted his knee while gathering firewood. It was the first of four foot injuries that resulted in people leaving the adventure. Matt Alexander left after his foot was injured. Lacey Jones then hurt her knee and was evacuated.
But none of the injuries were as devastating as Day 20, when the tribe’s main provider Matt Wright got a flesh-eating bacteria in his foot, a development that could have resulted in amputation or even death.

By all accounts, Matt Wright was the tribe leader on Season 3 of Naked and Afraid Xl. An avid hunter, he caught the first big game animal in the show’s history, a wild boar. He was admired by the rest of the participants as he helped minimize drama and maximize cooperation.
Wright, 34, was a Naked and Afraid veteran. He survived 21 days naked in Thailand during the miserable rainy season with partner Lindsay Boisclair. He later had a Naked and Afraid experience in Belize with People’s Steve Helling. He seemed well-positioned to complete 40 days in Ecuador.
But it wasn’t meant to be.

Naked and Afraid Xl continues on Sunday night. The show started out with 9 people, but multiple injuries have forced three paritipants to either quit or be evacuated. In last week’s episode, two of the men went exploring — and came across a camp with two women.
So how did they get along? There’s an exclusive clip above, and we got some inside info from Naked and Afraid participant Matt Wright. He shares with People what it’s like for two naked men to meet two naked women in the rainforest.
The first few minutes of Naked and Afraid are always awkward.

Naked and Afraid Xl continues on Sunday night, and by all accounts, it looks brutal. In the preview above, we see another leg injury. Will the third participant leave the show?
At this point, the hunger is beginning to set in. The participants haven’t had a square meal, and their bodies are beginning to shut down. Although the show casts avid hunters on the show, no one has ever gotten a big-game animal to feed themselves — until last week.

There's a first time for everything, including a proposal on Naked and Afraid. Matt Wright, 33, was having a rough go of it on the Discovery Channel series, he has lost his fish trap and hasn't had any success hunting frogs to eat. "I've been failing at everything I try to do today. I would say morale is probably at an all-time low right now," he says in the preview video above. So he turns to a note his girlfriend, Brooke Benham gave him for the naked journey in Thailand. He was there along with Lindsay Bossclair. Production on the episode was very extreme, at one point weather, including a torrential downpour, separated the participants from the production crew. The hidden message from Brooke at...
