It was the big question. When the Junior Taskmaster spin-off was announced back in March with new hosts welcoming the nation’s children to complete a series of absurd and pointless challenges, who would be sitting in the golden thrones? A new Taskmaster was required, along with a new Taskmaster’s assistant. One had to be masterful and imperious, the other detail-oriented and servile, and crucially, they both had to be good with kids.
The answer: series nine and 11 contestants Rose Matafeo and Mike Wozniak! Matafeo will be taking the Junior Taskmaster role scoring the young contestants’ efforts, with Wozniak providing admin-based support in the studio and on-site child wrangling during tasks as the Junior Taskmaster’s Assistant.
Matafeo came second in her series of Taskmaster, in which she competed against winner Ed Gamble (now the host of the show’s official podcast), and fellow not-winners David Baddiel, Katy Wix and Jo Brand.

Although she’d love to read more it’s hard for her to find the time. Across the series, Daisy invites six celebrity friends – Tim Key, Diane Morgan, Jamali Maddix, Nish Kumar, Katie Price and Alan Carr to try to change her mind by telling her all about their favourite book.

When it was announced yesterday that Frankie Boyle’s BBC series New World Order had been cancelled, the comedian’s reaction was frank but restrained. “Not surprising in the current climate, I suppose,” he told fans on Twitter, many of whom had followed his superb topical panel show devotedly for the five years it was on the air. Boyle didn’t elaborate on what he meant by the words “current climate”, but it doesn’t take too many imaginative leaps to hazard a guess. New World Order was one of the few shows on TV that was sincerely and unapologetically left-wing. And politically speaking, the BBC is in the midst of a full-fledged climate crisis.
It’s not good for optics that New World Order’s cancellation comes just weeks after the BBC was embroiled in an impartiality row with Match of the Day host Gary Lineker. The dispute – prompted...

Taskmaster seems to be one of those magically perfect TV shows, but of course the root of its genius isn’t magic at all: it’s a whip-smart combination of Alex Horne’s original format, the comedic force of nature that is Greg Davies in the role of the Taskmaster, and relentlessly good casting.
As we’ve said before, there’s no such thing as a bad series of Taskmaster, and we’re sure Series 15 will be no different, but until it arrives, what should fans fill their time watching?
Take a look at these similarly delightful TV shows, including plenty featuring previous Taskmaster series alumni:
Man Down (Channel 4)
Starring the Taskmaster himself Greg Davies, this Channel 4 sitcom centres on his character Dan, a frankly terrible schoolteacher who is having an infinitely amusing midlife crisis. As you can see from the clip above, it’ll please fans of Davies’ scathing takedowns,...

10 short weeks ago, none of us had seen Richard Herring feed half a watermelon to a slathering Daisy May Cooper, and frankly, we were the worse off for it. Neither had we witnessed The It Crowd’s Katherine Parkinson philosophically asking “Am I the spider?”, known how rigorously Johnny Vegas would apply himself to the task of putting the heaviest thing through a Christmas tree-bagger, or enjoyed Mawaan Rizwan thinking that if he filled an egg with helium, it would float like a happy little bee. All these, the tiny joys of a new series of Taskmaster.
Now that series 10 is over, eyes to the horizon for series 11. The new contestant line-up has been announced, along with confirmation of a second Champion of Champions mini-series featuring the winners of 6-10. First up, here’s who’ll be competing for the Taskmaster’s approval in series 11:

More than 900 hours of Vice programming will be available on Channel 4’s All4 on-demand service after the youth brand struck a deal with the British broadcaster.
The lineup spans news, current affairs, and lifestyle programming, with 200 hours of new content and 700 hours from Vice’s library. Titles covered include Jamali Maddix’s documentary series “Hate Thy Neighbour” (pictured) and Emmy-nominated travel documentary “Gaycation.” The deal also covers upcoming Vice content.
The deal marks the first time Channel 4 has worked with a third-party brand in this way to bring programming to its on-demand service. The partners tested the waters earlier this year by launching four Vice titles on All 4 for a limited time.
Alex Mahon, chief executive of Channel 4, said: “This is a phenomenally exciting and innovative partnership for Channel 4 and Vice which will create a compelling new hub for young viewers on All 4 and extend the reach of Vice...

Vice is getting into bed with more traditional broadcasters after striking a deal to air 900 hours of content across All 4, the digital platform operated by UK’s Channel 4.
The youth-skewing brand will offer 200 hours of new programming, including series such as Ellen Page’s travel documentary Gaycation; Michael K Williams’ Black Market, global fashion series States Of Undress and tattoo series Needles and Pin on the service as well as series from its current affairs and news strand.
It comes after a smaller, third party licensing deal with the broadcaster to include series such as Jamali Maddix’s race documentary series Hate Thy Neighbour on the service and marks the first time that All 4 will host content from a non-Channel 4 brand.
The deal follows a similar arrangement in the U.S., where Vice struck a big Svod licensing deal with Hulu for 15 series including Gloria Steinem’s Woman and Action Bronson’s F*ck,...
