Paula Crichton is a queer Mexican filmmaker based in Los Angeles with a strong focus on visual and poetic storytelling. As a writer and director, she is known for her highly stylized metaphorical imagery combined with social statements that create a magical realism that envelops her work. She attended Santa Fe University of Art and Design and later transferred to Columbia College Hollywood where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and acquired a BFA in Film Production with an emphasis in Cinematography. Paula has over five years of professional experience as a freelance director, cinematographer and gaffer on a variety of independent narrative projects that have received recognition at film festivals across the globe. In the television and commercial world she has worked for clients such as Sony Music Latin, Arista Records, and the Spectrum News show LA Stories with Giselle Fernandez (where she received a commemorative Emmy award for her involvement on the "Antonio Salazar-Hobson" episode). Paula made her directorial debut in 2024 at the Pasadena Independent Film Festival with her short film "The English Rose". Paula spends her free time learning about history, thinking about new stories to tell, drinking tea, and playing with her two baby cats Balty and Binksy. She looks forward to continuing to foster change to create a more inclusive film industry.
