RuPaul’s Drag Race is more than just your typical reality TV competition series; it has evolved into a cultural phenomenon. The show has crowned numerous superstar drag queens who have stomped through the Werk Room, with over 100 queens competing for the highest honor in the world of drag.
Hosted by RuPaul Charles, it celebrates the artistic prowess of drag queens from diverse backgrounds and offers a glimpse into the lives of contestants who courageously share their tales of resilience in the face of discrimination and prejudice.
Since its debut in 2009, the show has consistently delivered iconic television moments, with episodes challenging contestants to showcase their ‘charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent.’ Even if one doesn’t snatch the crown as the season’s winner, there’s still the opportunity to secure a coveted place in the ‘Drag Race Hall of Fame’ through RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.

Now available on Tubi, Donia Kash stars alongside Heidi N Closet, Cara Melle, Trinity the Tuck and Crystal Methyd in Slay, a Tubi Original horror-comedy that is available to watch right now. In our latest Q&a, Donia talks about their interest in the role, the experience on set, and their love of vampire movies!
How did you first get involved with Slay and what interested you in the role of Jax?
Jem Garrard was looking for a non-binary performer who could do both horror genre and still have that fast-paced comedic energy that Jax brings to Slay. I just so happened to have auditioned for them on a different project and never imagined that Jax was the character I would get to play. They’re a character that has such Fan-Them energy that also lives inside me but they totally geek out in an extroverted way seeing the queens.

At a time when hate and intolerance towards the LGBTQ+ community is on the rise, I wanted to write a horror comedy with heart that showcased drag queens and queers as the heroes. Drag queens have always been a symbol of resistance and resilience, so seeing them kick-ass against a bunch of blood-sucking vampires felt like a comical, yet pointed allegory.
– Jem Garrard, writer/director, Slay
Slay is what you might get if you mixed From Dusk Till Dawn with To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Only, instead of putting Hollywood actors in drag, cast lead roles with contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

When Trinity the Tuck appeared on the stage of "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" earlier this year for the iconic Snatch Game challenge, in which every drag artist chooses a celebrity to impersonate, she had completely morphed into actor Leslie Jordan. Apart from her impressive physical transformation - a far cry from Trinity's usual Southern glamour and pageantry - she embodied Jordan's energetic spirit, his sense of humor, and, above all, his ability not to take life too seriously. That impersonation led her to win the challenge alongside competitor Jinkx Monsoon.
Now, one month after Jordan's death, Trinity is reflecting on the legacy he left behind. She remembers first feeling connected to Jordan, who passed away at 67 on Oct. 24, via a television screen. He was a fellow Southern, queer entertainer whose presence and unabashed authenticity brought joy to audiences across the country - and created space for artists like Trinity...

For this season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” RuPaul Charles brought back eight crowned queens to compete again for the chance to be named “Queen of All Queens,” earn a second crown, and take home a cash prize of 200,000. With just one week to go before the “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” grand finale streams July 29 on Paramount Plus, fans are busy speculating who might be joining Jinkx Monsoon in the four-person Lip Sync LALAPaRUza. Jinkx secured her spot last week when she won her fourth Legendary Legend Star, more than any other contestant. The two queens closest to her are Jaida Essence Hall and Trinity the Tuck, both of whom have three stars. Next in line with two stars apiece are Yvie Oddly, Raja, The Vivienne and Monet X Change, and then Shea Coulee trails with a single star.
Last week, Gold Derby asked fans to vote for who they wanted to see compete against Jinkx in the final episode, and Raja, Trinity the Tuck and The Vivienne came out on top. Hare are the complete poll results:

Welp, it’s official. Jinkx Monsoon has earned enough Legendary Legend Stars to advance to the finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.” Was there ever a doubt? Now, the question remains: which three former winners will join her in the four-person Lip Sync LALAPaRUza? As of this writing, Jaida Essence Hall and Trinity the Tuck are looking the strongest as they both have three stars, compared to Jinkx’s leading four stars. Next in line with two stars apiece are Yvie Oddly, Raja, The Vivienne and Monet X Change, and then Shea Coulee trails with just a single star.

In my review of Ru Paul’s Drag Race All-Stars episode four I talked about how this season has proven the expression “expectation usually leads to disappointment” wrong. We have been waiting for years for the show to create a season entirely made up of queens who overcame their competitors. The queens have had time since their initial appearance to hone their craft, tour the world, collaborate with designers etc and so the standard of drag we have seen in this season has been some of the greatest we have seen across any franchise of the show! However, another extremely common adage states that “all good things must come to an end” and unfortunately in my opinion this week’s episode seems to be the early stages of the show losing its magic! We are only eight episodes in and so far we have had two design challenges and while...

The body is here! Trinity the Tuck, the queen who werked her way into our hearts with her Southern pageantry flair, iconic reads ("I call shade!"), and a whole lot of duct tape, is competing for the third time on "RuPaul's Drag Race." But this time, it's the "All Stars: All Winners" edition, and she's happy to do things a little bit differently.
"I feel like going into this season versus the last two, I was less severe with my approach on feeling like I needed to prove something," she tells Popsugar. "This time, I wanted to go in, and I just wanted to have fun." It's a good mindset to have, considering this is unlike any other season of "Drag Race." The cast is composed entirely of winners from past installments, and Trinity is even competing against her "twinner," Monét X Change, whom she won "Drag Race All Stars...

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Bob the Drag Queen runs down the crowning achievements of the all winners on the newest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” alongside a guest host. Following Friday’s seventh episode, Bob was joined by season 14 champion Willow Pill to get to the bottom of Monét X Change‘s belief that Willow was a “master strategist.” Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
Ahead of their recap and review, Willow admitted to Bob that while filming she didn’t have the intent of strategizing, but watching the show back she sees how people can think that. She even described a moment during filming where the other girls asked her if she knew the lyrics to a lip sync song and she said “no” despite having performed it herself before. Last week’s episode saw the queen write and perform a drag-uation speech that simultaneously entertained and inspired the next generation of drag superstars. This challenge saw Raja claim her first badge after her cult leader infused speech with Jinkx (as a witchy character) also being at the top. As a teacher, I personally thought that Trinity the Tuck’s speech about struggling and having to drop out of school to look after a very ill family member was very powerful. The message of Trinity being forced to leave but still ending up doing a job she is totally passionate about is so important and there are still many people who need to use this story as an inspiration for their own life. Regardless, Raja and Jinkx battled against one another who the two very different performance styles being showcased which eventually ended up with Jinkx winning so that she...

The world-renowned adage states that expectation usually leads to disappointment. After years of waiting for all-winners iterations of Drag Race, the anticipation was at an all-time high when it was finally announced. Not only were the fans treated to a version of the show they have spent ages waiting for but also have been graced with some of the greatest episodes in Drag Race her-story proving the aforementioned catchphrase very wrong! I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what has the secret ingredient that has made this season so fantastic and have decided that it is a concoction of various factors. These are some of the most successful queens to come from Drag Race and their winning performances on their original seasons already showcased an extremely high level of drag but also the time spent touring afterwards can only develop their art. Additionally, the change of format...

It has been recorded in previous Drag Race reviews how I believe that a musical challenge on the opening episode is the perfect way to open any season! On regular seasons of Drag Race, these lyric writing challenges give the queens an opportunity to introduce themselves to the audience which is especially important for early eliminations. For the first episode of all winners Drag Race All-Stars, the queens had to write, record and perform an original verse to Ru Paul’s song “Legends” that matched the prestige of the extremely successful queens involved. This song was the perfect opportunity for the queens to reintroduce themselves to the viewers (as one of them competed just over twelve years ago) but also allowed them to inject their performance with bucket loads of personality that reminds everyone why they won their original seasons! The track itself is available on Spotify and has been...

Every time there’s a new season of Ru Paul’s Drag Race there always seems to be a clump of so-called fans who complain that there are too many seasons being produced in close succession to one another. While I understand the over-saturation and cost associated with all the different streaming sites (although for those struggling with the latter factor I would recommend the Wow Presents Plus app which is just under £5 a month and contains all the possible Drag Race content you could possibly want!)
From the constant release of Drag Race seasons, Ru Paul has created a sort of TV universe that rivals the Marvel multiverse. ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’ Season 7 spotlight: Trinity the Tuck let her hair down on All Stars 4
It feels like forever since Willow Pill snatched the season 14 crown of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” (it’s been less than a month), so we’re punching ghosts over the fact that the series first ever all-winners season is set to kick off this Friday, May 20th. Premiering with two episodes on Paramount Plus, “All Stars 7” will feature eight past winners competing again for the chance to be hailed the “Queen of All Queens” by host RuPaul Charles.
Before they walk into the Werk Room again, we’re taking a look back at each of the eight queens and the path they took on their previous seasons to reach their their crowning moment. Despite tying for the win on “All Stars 4,” Trinity the Tuck‘s crowning in her second season is easily defined by a loosening up of her personality and embracing more than just the beauty of her body in drag.

The next season of "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" seems poised to feature some of the show's fiercest competition yet. "All Stars" season seven will be the first season to only feature previous winners of the show, with Shea Couleé, Jaida Essence Hall, Yvie Oddly, Trinity the Tuck, Monét X Change, Jinkx Monsoon, Raja, and The Vivienne all returning. The queens will be fighting for the title of "Queen of All Queens" and a 200,000 cash prize.
