Jelly Roll was the big winner at the CMT Music Awards for the second year in a row. Except this time, for the first time, his victories included the top award of the night: Video of the Year. Check out the complete list of winners here.
This year Jelly Roll won all three of his nominations: Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year for “Need a Favor,” and CMT Performance of the Year for his live performance of “Need a Favor” at the 2023 CMT Music Awards. Last year he also won Male Video of the Year (for “Son of a Sinner”) in addition to Male Breakthrough Video of the Year and CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year (also for “Son of a Sinner”). It seems, judging from his undefeated streak at these awards so far, that Jelly Roll has one of the most passionate fan bases in current country music.

Other winners in the all-fan-voted results included fellow frontrunner Lainey Wilson for female video of the year for “Watermelon Moonshine” and Dan + Shay for duo/group video for “Save Me the Trouble.” Warren Zeiders picked up breakthrough male video for “Pretty Little Poison,” while Ashley Cooke won equivalent honors for breakthrough female video for “Your Place. Dolly Parton honored Tom Petty with a gorgeous cover of his 1985 song, “Southern Accents,” which will appear on the upcoming tribute compilation Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty.
“Southern Accents” is a tender ballad about Southern roots and a down-on-his luck Florida orange-picker. Parton stays faithful to the original, adding her own country twang, and juicing the poignancy further with a music video filled with old archival footage of Petty.
“I was fortunate enough to get to know Tom over the years,” Parton said in a statement.

The traditional goodwill surrounding the annual lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in New York City ran into angry pro-Palestinian protesters just outside the event.
News reports indicated hundreds of protesters swarmed the streets surrounding Rockefeller Center, as police tried to separate Christmas revelers from the protests, pushing back people chanting “river to the sea.” Arrests were made and several fights broke out.
Many of those who wished to see the Christmas tree lighting were turned away in the chaos.
Barry Manilow, Carly Pearce, Darene Love, Katherine Mcphee and David Foster, Liz Gillies, and the Radio City Rockettes were among the artists scheduled to perform.
The event was televised by NBC, which focused on the stars on the stage to the exclusion of the riotous behavior yards away.
Waving Palestinian flags and signs, the protesters gathered along Sixth Avenue alongside tourists waiting in line to see the tree ceremony.
