Michel Gallimard
Michel Gallimard was an heir to Éditions Gallimard; the third largest publishing house in France. His father Raymond and uncle Gaston started the publishing empire in 1919, and Michel joined the company in 1940. Michel's cousin Claude (the son of Gaston) also ran the company and their attitudes and politics were always at odds. This was only resolved when Michel died in 1960, along with his friend and writer Albert Camus, in a tragic automobile accident.
