What’s a film without distribution? The Popcorn List sets out to make sure that doesn’t happen to the best indies.
Founded by Lela Meadow-Conner and Barbara Twist, the inaugural annual survey spotlights 20 features that debuted at major or regional film festivals this past year and come highly recommended by festival programmers. Nineteen out of the 20 movies have reviews on Letterboxd, despite not yet having theatrical or digital distribution in the U.S. All 20 have won awards — including Audience Awards and Jury Awards — at festivals like Sundance and SXSW.
Billed as being The Black List for undistributed films, the 2024 Popcorn List highlights independent films that are currently still without domestic U.S. distribution, like the documentary “Chasing Chasing Amy” about the making of Kevin Smith’s comedy.
The other 18 are: “Ajoomma,” “American Pot Story: Oaksterdam,” “Art for Everybody,” “Asog,” “Blood Sweat & Beers,” “Caterpillar,” “Citizen Sleuth,” “City of Wind,” “Crows Are White,...

The NCIS Universe has its new Gibbs.
A new NCIS spin-off debuts this fall that will tell stories from the earlier days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
The downside for some fans is that Mark Harmon won’t star in the show, even though he does have extensive involvement.
While Mark won’t appear on screen, he will narrate and executive produce NCIS: Origins.
Mark’s son Sean is also involved in the project. Sean played Gibbs during several flashback episodes of NCIS.
Now we know who will play the (new) younger version of Gibbs.
NCIS: Origins adds Austin Stowell as Gibbs
It has been confirmed that actor Austin Stowell will star as Gibbs on NCIS: Origins.
The news comes from CBS Studios and ends months of speculation from fans.
As a reminder, NCIS: Origins begins in 1991 when Gibbs and Mike Franks work at a Camp Pendleton office.

Taylor Armstrong from The Real Housewives of Orange County said Jen Shah from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City tried to turn her hotel room at BravoCon into her personal crash pad.
Shah infamously insisted she was on the BravoCon guest list when others including producer Andy Cohen said she was uninvited after she pleaded guilty to fraud. During BravoCon, Tamra Judge from Rhoc told reporters that Shah showed up unannounced at her room. She also asked Judge’s team for hair and makeup and proceeded to make herself at home.
Now Armstrong not only corroborated that assertion but added to the story. She revealed that Shah suddenly decided that she and her entourage would sleep in Armstrong’s room. So Armstrong found a way to drag Shah over her impending prison sentence.
