The Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud continues to escalate after the Canadian rapper released “The Heart Part 6,” a new diss track Sunday night that pushed back against some of the sexual predator allegations made by Lamar in a series of songs released over the last week.
The biggest rap feud in years has increasingly become vitriolic and personal, and has seen both Drake and Lamar throw unsubstantiated allegations at each other. Among them, Drake has accused Lamar of physically abusing his partner, and Lamar suggested Drake has a hidden love child. In his last few tracks, Lamar has focused on allegations that Drake is a sexual predator, and in the song “Meet the Grahams,” which was released May 3, he directly accuses Drake of harboring “sex offenders” at his label Ovo and even calls his rival a “pervert” for his alleged interest in younger women. He also raps that “we gotta...

The Hot Docs Forum, the festival’s industry centerpiece, wrapped Wednesday with its most lively awards announcements in recent memory—complete with flamenco guitar, song and dance courtesy of Spain, this year’s country in focus—as hundreds of industry delegates assembled under the sun in the courtyard of Toronto’s Hart House.
Elaine Epstein’s “Arrest the Midwife”—one of 20 projects presented to key funders and decision-makers as well as filmmakers, producers and other observers at the two-day Forum pitch event—won the First Look first prize of Can $20,000 cash. Produced through Epstein’s Underdog Films (U.S.), with producers Robin Hessman and Ruth Ann Harnisch, the film follows the arrest of three midwives serving Amish and Mennonite communities, which spurs an unlikely group of activists to join the fight for reproductive rights.

British royal family news reveals that disgraced Prince Andrew is back in the headlines due to the Netflix drama Scoop, which features his diasterous BBC interview which got the ball rolling on him being placed in the royal weeds.
The end point came when he was stripped of all of his royal patronages and military affiliations in January 2022. Here is everything to know about the Duke of York, aka “Randy Andy.”
Royal Family News – Andrew’s Sex Assault Lawsuit

It seems April 2024 isn’t off to a good start for Princess Beatrice ever since Netflix’s Scoop premiered. The 35-year-old British royal is portrayed—very briefly—in the film about her father, Prince Andrew’s 2019 Newsnight interview regarding his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. According to an expert, Beatrice is likely “annoyed and upset” she’s depicted in the film.
Beatrice will be ‘dreading’ the ‘difficult time ahead’ amid her portrayal in ‘Scoop’
Scoop debuted on April 5, 2024. With it came a depiction of Beatrice as her father, Andrew, played by Rufus Sewell, and his team negotiated with BBC Newsnight’s Sam McAlister (Billie Piper) and Emily Maitlis (Gillian Anderson).
The interview aired in November 2019. It resulted in Andrew losing his Hrh [His Royal Highness] status and being removed from the list of working royals.
Charity Wakefield plays Beatrice in Scoop, who’s seen in one scene attending a Buckingham Palace meeting.

Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook’s last foray into the television medium was for an adaptation of a John Le Carré novel, so it should come as no surprise that his next venture is also a spy thriller adaptation. The Sympathizer is an incredibly involved miniseries with many moving pieces, but thanks to an incredible team behind and in front of the camera, the pieces mostly come together in spectacular fashion.
Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, The Sympathizer tells the story of a North Vietnamese plant in the South Vietnamese army who flees to the United States as a refugee, kicking off a web of lies and deceit. Although it has the premise of an espionage thriller, there’s so much more here, and the result is thoroughly entertaining.
The show does struggle to explore some of its themes with the depth they deserve. There are...

Gillian Anderson is once again playing a character with British royal family ties in Netflix’s Scoop. (She played Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Crown.) This time, she portrays Emily Maitlis, the journalist who interviewed Prince Andrew in 2019 about his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Ahead, why Anderson thought the role “seemed like a really bad idea” and turned it down. Plus, who changed her mind.
Anderson didn’t want to play Emily Maitlis for 2 reasons: she’s ‘living’ and they call the same neighborhood home
During a Scoop screening and Q&a in New York City, New York, on April 3, 2024, Anderson revealed why she turned down the role of Maitlis.
“I said no initially,” she said (via People). “It felt [like] Emily Maitlis is known very well in the U.K. She’s been on our screens and in our ears and podcasts for a long time,...

Netflix doesn’t at all try to hold back from making fun of Prince Andrew in their latest film, Scoop. The Philip Martin-directed film is based on former BBC editor Sam McAlister’s book about securing one of the most sensational interviews of Prince Andrew in the history of the BBC. The context is rather grave, as the interview was focused on the grim subject of Andrew’s friendship with the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. Billie Piper is electrifying as McAlister, and so is Gillian Anderson, who plays Emily Maitlis, the famous British journalist who took the interview. But it is Rufus Sewell who delivers the standout performance as the controversial Prince. However, the film still falls quite flat, as, at the end of the day, it doesn’t really offer anything substantial to the viewers. Despite all the brilliant performances, Scoop remains just another Netflix...

Netflix’s “Scoop” is inspired by the real events behind the bold efforts of “Newsnight” booker Sam McAlister to secure an interview with Prince Andrew amidst the fallout he felt from his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
It traces the admirable behind-the-scenes teamwork of McAlister, journalist and interviewer Emily Maitlis (Gillian Anderson), editor Esme Wren (Romola Garai), producer Stewart Maclean (Richard Goulding) and ultimate fact-checker Freddy (Jordan Kouamé), as well as photographer Jae Donnolly (Connor Swindells).
High stakes, adrenaline and twists and turns make “Scoop” a compelling watch, in addition to the star-stacked cast that portrays all the real-life players.

When the 2019 Newsnight interview finally blew up the time bomb that was Prince Andrew’s friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, not all of the pieces came back down to Earth in the same place. The interview that the Duke of York’s team were hoping would charm the public and rid him of his “Randy Andy” reputation achieved the opposite. Viewers found Prince Andrew to be callous and unsympathetic, while his denials of wrongdoing failed to convince many.
What followed were legal proceedings, a substantial out-of-court settlement, and a great many job resignations. From the prince to his team and the journalists behind the interview, here’s where the major players as featured in Netflix’s Scoop were left.

In the final minutes of Netflix’s Scoop, a fictionalised behind-the-scenes account of Newsnight’s infamous Prince Andrew interview, Billie Piper’s character Sam buys a kebab. Two lamb shawarmas – her usual, says the vendor, who gestures at the TV news and asks if she’s seen all this business with the prince? Boy, he’d love to have been in the room when that interview was filmed. Sam McAlister looks wistfully at the screen with the beginning of a smile on her face. “Yeah I did. I saw it,” she tells him, and then turns and leaves.
So humble. So real. So unmotivated by personal glory. Sam McAlister could have told the kebab shop man that she very much was in the room when that interview was filmed, and that as the guest booker on Newsnight, without her it might never even have happened. She doesn’t. The former...

Scoop is a 2024 Netflix movie starring Gillian Anderson, Billie Piper, Rufus Sewell and Keeley Hawes. It is directed by Philip Martin and written by Peter Moffat.
Are you a fan of journalism? The film might not be an exact representation, it could all be a little romanticized, and perhaps more Hollywood than realistic. However, if you’re fascinated by the world of journalism, “Scoop” knows how to maintain a great cinematic pace and weave a story that captivates and thrills.
Yes, it’s idealized, but it’s also passionate and well-told.
Scoop Plot
Jeffrey Epstein was accused in New York of child prostitution. Epstein committed suicide in prison, but his story didn’t end there. Across the Atlantic, the scandal touched the British Crown and one its highest representatives: Prince Andrew.

Scoop is a dramatized feature about the BBC’s Newsnight team scoring a sensationally revealing 2019 interview with Prince Andrew about his relationship with millionaire sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. For a film about a journalistic exclusive, it has the most generic title possible. There are already at least four other movies out there called Scoop, including a rubbishy 2006 Woody Allen film and a 1987 adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s peerless 1938 satirical novel, a twofer satire of both the press and the British aristocracy.
Sadly, this latest Scoop has none of Waugh’s acid wit or alkaline intelligence. Although serviceable as a retread of the events that led up to the royal interview conducted by Newsnight anchor Emily Maitlis (impersonated here by Gillian Anderson), an interview recreated for big chunks of the running time, it doesn’t significantly deepen or enrich our understanding of the personalities involved — let alone journalism, privilege, sexual exploitation or the price of fish.

It makes sense that Netflix leapt at the chance to adapt Sam McAllister’s “Scoops: Behind the Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interviews,” as the story that screenwriter Peter Moffat has pulled from it feels like nothing so much as an episode from season eight or nine of “The Crown” — the most compelling thing about this film might be the case it makes in support of the streamer’s decision to end that series after season six.
A thin but propulsive journalistic thriller about the making of the November 2019 “Newsnight” segment in which Prince Andrew self-immolated on national television while being grilled about his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, “Scoop” fleetly dramatizes how a small team at the BBC’s most prestigious current affairs program convinced the Duke of York to hoist himself on the petard of his own alleged sex crimes. “The Crown” may have ended last year, but Netflix has another royal drama in store.
The streamer has released the first trailer for “Scoop,” its feature-length dramatization of Prince Andrew’s toe-curling interview with “Newsnight” anchor Emily Maitlis.
Maitlis is played by Gillian Anderson in the film, while Andrew is played by “The Diplomat” star Rufus Sewell. Keeley Hawes is also on board as Amanda Thirsk, Andrew’s former private secretary and Billie Piper stars as Sam McAlister, the “Newsnight” producer who secured the interview with Andrew and on whose book (called “Scoops”) the film is based.
Andrew’s interview with Maitlis in November 2019 was dubbed a “car crash” after the British royal, who settled a sexual assault suit with Virginia Guiffre two years ago, said he had no regrets about his friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. In 1965, Paul McCartney was the only member of The Beatles to meet with esteemed playwright and composer Noel Coward. Not long after Ringo Starr joined The Beatles, the band skyrocketed to success. By 1964, they were the biggest band in the world. Starr said that many celebrities and musicians were among their fans. In 1967, John Lennon’s songwriting was broadcast live around the world. “All You Need Is Love” appeared on the broadcast Our World, the first live program to reach multiple countries. Lennon’s Beatles bandmates saw “All You Need Is Love” as a fitting song for the program. Though Lennon did not disagree, he thought the finished song sounded a bit “strange.”

Some classic rock songs have a double meaning that might not be apparent to everyone. A punk rocker said The Beatles’ “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” was about the love life of The Beatles’ gay manager, Brian Epstein. John Lennon discussed the song as well. John Lennon Said His Relationship With Beatles Manager Brian Epstein Was ‘Almost Like a Love Affair’
Shortly before the birth of his first child, John Lennon went on vacation with Beatles manager Brian Epstein. While Paul McCartney believed Lennon took the vacation to assert dominance in the band, Lennon said he did it because of how much he enjoyed his relationship with Epstein. The pair had a close friendship that, according to Lennon, bordered on a love affair.
John Lennon said he had a very intense relationship with Brian Epstein
While Epstein said that he grew to love all four Beatles in equal measure, he admitted that he was closest with Lennon in the band’s early years.
“I think Paul thinks I’m closer to John than I am with him,” he said, per the book The Beatles: The Authorized Biography by Hunter Davies. “It’s not really true. It was earlier on, but now I love them all equally.”

John Lennon‘s death has inspired conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory. Interestingly, John dismissed conspiracy theories about the death of another famous musician during World War II as irrelevant. Regardless of what actually happened there, the musician’s life and untimely death remain fascinating.
John Lennon didn’t care about a Nazi-related conspiracy theory from World War II
During a 1980 interview from the book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, John had a lot to say about celebrity gossip. “I will read anything that comes out — I like archeology, anthropology, anything ancient like that,” he said. “I love it. I would dig going on a dig. But everybody has their own place. Mine is to do, and other people’s is to record. I can’t do both.
“I mean, who cares whether Glenn Miller was killed by the CIA or the Nazis or what the hell?...

Prince Andrew was the pampered favorite son of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. But could her indulgent attitude to her third child, along with his resentment at being “the spare,” have set the stage for one of the monarchy’s biggest scandals in recent memory? A new documentary suggests it did.

Secrets of Prince Andrew, which premiers August 21 on A&e, is a deep dive into the life of the man who was once second in line to the throne, with a particular focus on his disastrous November 2019 interview with the BBC about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Since Jeffrey Epstein died under mysterious circumstances in his prison cell in August 2019 while awaiting sex-trafficking charges, and his right-hand woman Ghislaine Maxwell received 20 years behind bars for her part in the sex-trafficking operation (in a low-security prison, without having to name names), there’s still an overwhelming air of suspicion, confusion, and anger surrounding the notorious pedophile and the rich-and-powerful men who found themselves in his inner circle. Justice doesn’t seem like it’s been served when Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Donald Trump, and other Masters of the...

Imagine you could go back in time and buy stock in The Beatles in 1960 or 1961. A small investment would be worth a fortune today. Allan Williams had some Beatles stock back then. What he did with it made him the biggest loser in Beatles’ history even while being one of the most important people to the band.

In 1967, The Beatles released Magical Mystery Tour, a film that George Harrison admittedly found confusing. He said that the movie was half-baked. They didn’t have a director, a script, or even a completely solid idea of what they wanted to make. Harrison said he never had any idea what he was doing on set. Still, he believed that the project ended up helping the band.

Bill Gates allegedly had an affair around 2010. Jeffrey Epstein was aware of the relationship and used the information to send a threatening email to Gates in 2017, suggesting he would make the affair public. According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, he sent the email after failing to convince the Microsoft cofounder to invest in his efforts to form a significant charitable fund with JPMorgan.
Gates’ affair was with Mila Antonova, a Russian woman in her 20s at the time. It started after the two met through competitions for the card game bridge. The paper found a 2010 YouTube video, shown below, of Antonova talking about the game and noting her meeting with Gates at a national tournament.
Antonova met Epstein around 2013 when she was looking for funding for BridgePlanet, a business that would teach others how to play bridge. She claimed that she did not know about Epstein’s...

The Beatles practically owned the charts in the 1960s. They had 20 No. 1 hit singles and several No. 1 albums. Since the Fab Four were constantly at the top, it blocked other acts from reaching the summit. The Beatles even prevented a cover of a John Lennon song from becoming a No. 1 single in 1963.

It’s hard to overstate The Beatles’ success in the 1960s. They had an incredible 64 top-100 songs during their active career. Nearly half of those — 31, to be precise — came in 1964 alone. On three occasions, their albums kept other Beatles records from hitting No. 1.
The band started cannibalizing their own success almost as soon as they hit the charts in 1963. The Beatles kept a cover of the John Lennon song “Do You Want to Know a Secret” from hitting No.

Bob Dylan moved to New York with the intention of establishing himself as a musician. He succeeded in this, but not without some challenges. In 1966, news broke that Bob Dylan had been badly injured in a motorcycle accident, but nobody seemed to know the details. Nearly 60 years later, details about the accident are still muddy. Dylan hasn’t spoken much about it, but others have divided themselves into two camps. Some say the accident left the musician with serious injuries, while others doubt it ever happened. According to Dylan biographer Daniel Mark Epstein, the musician did have an accident, but not in the way people might think.

Even early in his career, Bob Dylan had many admirers, including The Rolling Stones’ Brian Jones. The guitarist idolized Dylan and was happy to spend a night out with the musician and his friends. Unfortunately, Dylan greeted Jones with coarse cruelty that left him in tears. This was how Dylan behaved around many of the people who admired him.

The Let it Be documentary is a sore spot in the history of The Beatles. What was meant to be an exciting behind-the-scenes look at how the band records an album became a movie that foreshadowed the downfall of The Beatles. Shortly after the film’s release, John Lennon shared why Let it Be made him feel “sick.”

In a 1971 interview with Rolling Stone, Lennon said the catalyst for The Beatles’ splitting up was the death of their manager Brian Epstein. Epstein, who managed the band starting in 1962, died from an overdose at 32 in 1967. The band needed a new leader, and McCartney took the role.
