Social criticism is the foundation of The Twilight Zone. If there has ever been any confusion about the show’s true purpose, it’s probably because the original Twilight Zone episodes often had to disguise their messages. Inspired by his battles with network censors who were quick to cut anything that may upset even the worst kinds of people, Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling decided that his show would address the human core of social issues rather than exactly what was happening at the time. The sci-fi genre offered the perfect camouflage for Sterling’s ambitions. As Serling once said, “You can put these words in the mouth of a Martian and get away with it.”
Fascists could look like aliens, bigots could be literal monsters, and censorship could occur on some other planet. Those who knew the horror of such real-life atrocities could watch The Twilight Zone and understand what was being said.

Cinema has largely reflected the change in humanity's attitude toward space in the 21st century: space is increasingly portrayed as a lifeless or unknowable place where nothing good awaits humans. In the dark abyss, if a space traveler encounters anything at all, it is an extremely unfriendly creature – Ridley Scott, in particular, started with this idea when he directed Alien.
But 36 years later, he also made a movie that changed the game. Light, cheerful, deliberately old-fashioned, it put the human creator back at the center of the universe, full of optimism and faith in science. And that movie was The Martian.
What is The Martian About?
After a violent storm on Mars, astronaut Mark Watney's colleagues left him as they thought he was dead. But Watney survived and found himself completely alone. Undaunted, Mark uses his ingenuity to find a way to communicate with Earth.

Young Justice has easily become one of the most beloved animated superhero series in recent times. The series has an excellent lineup of characters, all of which feel well-thought-out and have extremely interesting stories. It picked whatever aspects of a character’s back story they wanted, choosing from the several versions and sticking with them. If they were unable to find the correct pieces, they made changes, creating the intricate puzzle that is the series.
Young Justice
The perfect example of a significant change they made to an original story is Martian Manhunter and Mars as a planet. Going from a destroyed planet to a lively civilization on the brink of civil war, the change brought about a lot of interesting elements to the story.

Arguably, the most famous fictional planet is Krypton -- the home of Kal-El, aka Clark Kent, aka Superman. We all know the story (though studios seem to think we don't) of how Krypton was destroyed, and how the sole (kind of) survivor was baby Kal-El. But while Krypton gets all the attention, it's not the only desolated former metropolis in the DC Universe.
Another essential part of the DC mythos is Mars, our red neighbor. In most of the DC continuity, Mars is mostly devoid of life, with all civilizations having been wiped out through war or a plague, leaving only J'onn J'onzz, aka the Martian Manhunter, alive and stranded on Earth. That is not the case with the acclaimed "Young Justice" animated series, which portrays Mars as having a big, advanced, and very active Martian civilization.
This was by design. The show, which is one of the best superhero TV shows out there,...

Prime Video series “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” has unveiled first look images.
The series is a reimagining of the 2005 film starring Brad Pit and Angelina Jolie as Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith, respectively. In this iteration, Donald Glover (“The Martian”) stars as John Smith, while Maya Erskine (“PEN15”) stars as Jane Smith.
This new version features John and Jane both landing jobs working for an international spy agency where they must pose as spouses Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith. As they navigate a new mission each week, they find themselves falling in love with one another, complicating — and compromising — their “strictly business” relationship. Notably, this version features an intentional sham marriage between two strangers, as compared to the 2005 original, in which Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith were married without being aware of each other’s identity as an assassin.

This article contains spoilers for Invincible season 2 episode 2.
Adapted from a comic that ran for 144 serialized issues, Prime Video’s Invincible has a lot of plot to get through if it wants to hit its seven-to-eight season target.
That means that any given episode of the show features abundant background material with supporting characters in addition to the usual Mark Grayson a.k.a. Invincible (Steven Yeun) hijinx. The latest example of a seemingly unimportant character getting prominent billing comes in season 2 episode 2 “In About Six Hours I Lose My Virginity to a Fish.” While Mark prepares to fulfill the unfortunate promise of the episode’s title, the plot occasionally drifts over to focus on a very strange astronaut named Rus Livingston (voiced by Sonic the Hedgehog himself: Ben Schwartz).
But who exactly is Rus Livingston? Where did he come from? And how did he come to be the superhero “The Shapesmith.

This article contains spoilers for Invincible season 1.
Between new Marvel Cinematic Universe series and reboots of DC films, the superhero genre has inundated audiences with content at every turn of late. Even people who can’t get enough of seeing Loki grapple with time travel or Michael Keaton cameo as Batman may find it a tad bit overwhelming and stale to be hit with the same old stuff. Thanks to offbeat, unique shows like The Boys and Invincible, however, the superhero genre has a couple of beacons of revolutionary hope for the future.
The latter show is where we’ll turn our focus, as the second season of Robert Kirkman’s (of The Walking Dead fame) comic book adaptation is about to launch the first of its eight episodes on Nov. 3. If you’re a little fuzzy on the details of the first season and where we left off, you’re probably in the majority.

Synopsis
Black Hawk Down
From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (The Martian) and renowned producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pearl Harbor) comes the gripping true story about bravery, camaraderie, and the complex reality of war.
Black Hawk Down stars an exceptional cast including Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor, and Eric Bana. In 1993, an elite group of American Rangers and Delta Force soldiers are sent to Somalia on a critical mission to capture a violent warlord whose corrupt regime has led to the starvation of hundreds of thousands of Somalis. When the mission goes quickly and terribly wrong, the men find themselves outnumbered and literally fighting for their lives.
The Guns Of Navarone
Academy Award®-winners Gregory Peck, David Niven, and Anthony Quinn star as a team of Allied military specialists recruited for a dangerous but imperative mission: to infiltrate a Nazi-occupied fortress and disable two long-range field guns so that 2,000 trapped British soldiers may be rescued.

The coach of Lorenzo Musetti called Carlos Alcaraz a 'Martian' but he doesn't think that the Spaniard can beat Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final.
If you asked this question a month ago then you'd probably find most people associated with tennis agreeing. However, his recent Queen's Club run which surprised Alcaraz himself got many thinking that he will have some chances.
The Spaniard himself is keen to break up the dominance of Djokovic at Wimbledon despite understanding that it will be tougher on grass than other surfaces . Simone Tartarini, the coach of Musetti still sees Novak Djokovic as the favourite.
Djokovic favorite? Absolutely yes, after all, he has won the tournament seven times and he comes from the success in Paris. So, he's definitely the player to beat.
Having Djokovic as the favourite in London is only logical. He's been utterly spectacular, winning the event in the last few years.

The movie is inspired by true events that took place in Kentucky in 1985, and it was written by Jimmy Warden. Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) produced.
The basic gist of the story is that a 175-pound black bear was found dead from an overdose after ingesting massive amounts of cocaine dropped into the woods by a drug smuggler.

Initially, Syfy’s The Ark is a rough ride — and not only because the premiere episode opens with a catastrophic event that destroys much of the spaceship it’s set on, along with most of its passengers.
Its premise feels borrowed from countless other sci-fi tales. Its heroes seem to have been plucked half-formed from a factory of tired tropes. And its tone is off somehow, as if showrunners Dean Devlin (Leverage) and Jonathan Glassner (Stargate Sg-1) haven’t yet decided whether to lean into the grimness of its survival drama, or into the jarring uplift of its credits theme.
Yet just as the ship’s crew begin to rise to the occasion, so too do their series’ disparate elements. The Ark may never be admired for its thematic profundity, or its brave ideas, or its nuanced character development. But by the fourth hourlong episode sent to critics (of a...

At a press event on Monday, January 30th, new DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran welcomed media to the Warner Bros. lot to the future of the new DC Universe. The new direction includes a fresh Superman film written by Gunn, a new introduction to the Batman family, a Wonder Woman TV prequel series, and much more.
Gunn and Safran met with a writer’s room that included Drew Goddard (The Martian), Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight), Christina Hobson, Christal Henry (Watchmen) and Tom King. “We sat down in a room for a few days and we started to bash out what the basic overall plan could be,” said Gunn. “Not so much that it ties your wrists, but enough that we know what the basic story is, where we’re going. And it’s something that we’ll continue to do.”

Holy unified cinematic universe, Batman!
Three months after James Gunn and Peter Safran officially started running the newly created DC Studios within Warner Bros. Discovery, the co-chiefs have announced the first 10 film and TV titles within the rebooted DC Universe.
On Monday, Gunn and Safran met with press on the Warner Bros. studio lot to present what they said was the first part of Chapter 1 of the Dcu, which they are calling “Gods and Monsters.”
The projects run the gamut. There are titles based on marquee DC heroes — including the previously announced Superman feature written by Gunn, now officially titled “Superman: Legacy,” a Batman and Robin movie, a Wonder Woman prequel series and a Green Lantern mystery series — as well as titles featuring lesser known characters, including Booster Gold and Swamp Thing. The Dcu exists as a multiverse, Safran said, but the titles will exist in one singular universe. Overall,...

The hallmarks of a Ridley Scott sci-fi film include characters trapped in bleak situations, who persevere against impossible odds to survive. This zeal to survive is an integral aspect of Scott's "Alien," while his "Blade Runner" is an existential meditation on what it means to be human. In Scott's long tradition of films about human survival, "The Martian" emerges as a remarkable tale about an astronaut stranded on Mars grappling with the technological challenges that threaten to endanger his life. Scott's "The Martian," based on Andy Weir's brilliant novel of the same name, does its best to not brush over the science in science fiction, as Mark Watney's (Matt Damon) survival hinges on adapting to a hostile planet that only scientific ingenuity can help make habitable.
However, did Sir Ridley Scott have a solid grasp on the science-focused aspects of "The Martian?" According to the director, he was "intimidated" by the film's script,...

Any documentary with a score as lush and uplifting as the one that Blake Neely composed for “Good Night Oppy” has gotta be a glorified commercial for something, but at least is upfront about what it’s selling: The magic of science.
Family-friendly Stem propaganda that never feels like it was only (or even especially) made for kids, “Good Night Oppy” follows its Wall-e-like stars from their launch in 2003 all the way through their respective lifecycles on the Red Planet, which were only supposed to be 90 sols long (that’s Martian for “day”), but — in the nerd equivalent of a Hanukkah miracle — lasted for several years before the robots finally quiet quit as the people who made them watched from the sidelines some 300 million miles away. I never realized the search for water on an alien hellscape could be so darn touching.
