“Insurgent” is heading for a $57 million opening weekend, according to industry tracking.
If that number holds, the debut will be bigger than that of “Divergent,” the first film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s bestselling series of novels. That initial chapter in the futuristic franchise kicked off to $54.6 million last March, going on the make $150.9 million domestically and $288.7 million worldwide.
