Just three days after the explosive season 6 finale of “Game of Thrones,” the first news about season 7 has been confirmed.
Four directors have signed on to helm the fantasy drama’s seventh season: Series veterans Alan Taylor, Jeremy Podeswa, Mark Mylod and newcomer Matt Shakman will take the reins for the upcoming 2017 season, first announced by Entertainment Weekly.
Taylor returns to the HBO series after helming “Thor: The Dark World” and “Terminator Genisys,” the latter of which starred Emilia Clarke. The director first entered King’s Landing for two episodes in season one and four episodes in season two.
Podeswa and Mylod both directed episodes in season 6. The former also scored an Emmy nomination for season 5’s “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken.”
Shakman, who is perhaps best known for his work on FX’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” will make his “Game of Thrones” directorial debut in season 7.
