Missed Tuesday’s late-night monologues? We’ve got you covered with our round-up of the night’s best laughs from across the dial.
The Defense Rests
After a day off, Donald Trump’s election fraud/hush money trial was back in session on Thursday. That meant plenty more ammo for late-night hosts, especially since Trumps’ presence in the New York courtroom entails everything from tiny crowds of supporters (literally one lady showed up today), frequent in-session naps, and the occasional toilet humor-derived insulting nickname read out in front of a helplessly scowling (or snoring) Trump.
It’s no secret at this point that all the major hosts are no fans of the former President/current defendant, with Stephen Colbert going out of his way to contrast a lovely May day with his frequent target’s daily legal routine. “It was a beautiful Spring day here in New York City. 10 out...

There's a thin line between love and hate — especially when it comes to romance stories. The enemies-to-lovers trope is a tried and true genre staple, most recently demonstrated in the Brooke Shields–Cary Elwes holiday drama A Castle For Christmas. It follows bestselling American romance author Sophie Brown (Shields) as she travels to Scotland, where she clashes with grumpy Scottish duke Myles (Elwes). The two spar at first, but their hard exteriors begin to soften as they realize their sparks are indicative of an electric romantic chemistry.
But if you finished A Castle For Christmas and are immediately ready to dive into a new change-of-heart romance where the protagonists have a hard time discerning their attraction from anger, here’s a list of films you can stream right now.

For many people, high school isn’t the easiest time. Between the not-so-great fashion choices (whose idea was it to layer two polos on top of each other?), awkward exchanges with your crush and the insane pressure to decide what you want to do with your life, simply trying to, well, be a normal person is hard. And it’s not even just about school: Coming into your own is arguably even harder than passing any class with a B+ average. While this may never be a time that you would want to relive, stories on-screen can often show that there was beauty in the process.
Even if you did have a table to sit at in the lunchroom during high school, these coming-of-age films, including the newly released Tall Girl 2, capture many relatable facets of growing up — in all its painful glory.

It doesn’t matter what your relationship status is: single. Coupled. Throupled. Complicated. There’s no shame in admitting when you want something so juicy that it’ll make you hit the rewind button or drop exclamation marks into the group chat. But what makes a good sex scene? What tips the scale into steamy? It’s much more than beautiful people kissing set to a lush soundtrack or a full-nude romp in the sack. No, no. The desire is in the details. Long before Lee Jung-jae donned a green jumpsuit that would earn him unprecedented global fame and accolades in Squid Game, he’d already built a storied career as one of South Korea’s most celebrated actors. After working as a model for a few years, Lee made his acting debut in the 1993 Sbs K-drama Dinosaur Teacher. The following year he appeared in his first feature, The Young Man, for which he won the best newcomer award at the three most prestigious awards ceremonies in Korea, the Blue Dragon Film Awards, the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Grand Bell Awards — a feat that was practically unheard of at the time. However, his breakout role came in the 1995 K-drama Sandglass (aka Hourglass), deemed one of the most significant dramas in South Korean history. The drama was so popular at the time that the entire nation was said to have been swept...

March marks National Women’s History Month, but let’s be real — every month should serve as a time to celebrate the contributions of women throughout history. And what better way to both see and celebrate these acts of bravery than through films, which capture some of the most intimate moments in notable women’s lives and tell their harrowing stories?

What defines a Ryan Reynolds performance? Is it his wry comedic timing? The almost illegal amount of charisma he projects on screen? The three-piece suits? More than likely, it’s a combination of all of the above, a potent witch’s brew of Hollywood fairy dust that makes this Canadian actor and producer one of our most compelling movie stars. Whether he’s gushing about the genius of Betty White in a documentary tribute to her life, trading bodies with Ben Kingsley in Self/Less or leading a pack of neon-clad vigilantes in 6 Underground, what defines his brand of star power is that you want to see how he tackles every role.
Red Notice is no exception. As international art thief Nolan Booth, Reynolds is at it again, this time alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, arguably the only other two actors on the planet who are as compulsively watchable as he is.

Kirsten Dunst has grown up on-screen. From her big break as precocious baby vampire Claudia in 1994’s Interview with the Vampire,in which she stole scenes from no less than Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, she’s been an emblem of her era of popular culture — and shaped it, too. Her portrayals of languid Lux Lisbon in Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides and “cheer-tator” Torrance Shipman in 2000’s Bring It On are indelible portrayals of the inner lives of teenage girls. As Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man, she helped usher in our obsession with superheroes. And where would millennial pink be without Marie Antoinette?
In fact, perhaps she’s been such a Hollywood staple that the industry simply forgot to formally acknowledge her talent — until now. Dunst’s performance as Rose Gordon in Jane Campion’s The Power of the Doghas earned hermultiple award nominations, including a nod for...

Ring the dressing gong because it’s time to change... shows, that is. With Downton Abbey taking its final bow on Netflix on May 31, it’s time to bid adieu to the Crawley family and their downstairs staff. Spanning some 13 years, from 1912 to 1925, Downton Abbey’s six seasons are set against a backdrop of massive social upheaval in Great Britain. When the series begins, the biggest concern of Lord and Lady Crawley (Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern) — aka the Earl and Countess of Grantham — is whether their eldest daughter, Mary (Michelle Dockery), will marry her distant cousin (Dan Stevens), whom fate has chosen as heir to the Grantham estate. Fast-forward through a world war, Spanish flu, the dawn of the Jazz Age, and several near-bankruptcies, and the world has changed far more than Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) may care to admit. The first thing we learn about Persuasion’s Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson) is that she’s single. The second? She’s not happy about it. “I almost got married once,” she says, before launching into an explanation of how that all fell apart. It’s been eight years since she ended things with the love of her life, the penniless Captain Frederick Wentworth (Cosmo Jarvis), after a family friend told her she could do better. News flash: She hasn’t. Miserable, lonely, and with only her insufferable family for company, Anne is in perpetual breakup limbo. With no apps to scroll through or movies to lose herself in, she finds solace in the 19th-century version of self-care: guzzling wine and petting her domesticated bunny rabbit, pining for what could have been. But when a newly rich and successful Wentworth suddenly reappears in her life, Anne must consider whether she’s...

From his beginnings as a featured player on In Living Color and creator and star of The Jamie Foxx Show to multiple Academy Award–nominated performances (and one win as Ray Charles in 2004’s Ray), Jamie Foxx has proven over and over again that he has the range.
Need someone to bring the funny? He’s your man. Bad guys need beating up? Yes, hello. Emotional gut punch required? On it. All three at once? Look no further than Day Shift, his latest movie hitting Netflix Aug. 12. Foxx plays Bud Jablonski, an LA vampire hunter with cash flow problems who’s forced to bite off a little more than he can chew to pay off his debts.

Crunching leaves. Chunky sweaters. Coffee so hot you can see the steam. There’s something undeniably cozy about fall and all that the season brings, which is why it’s the perfect backdrop for some of our all-time favorite movies and shows.
Beyond the obvious reasons — gorgeous sepia-toned foliage, envy-inducing outerwear — there’s this autumn-specific sense of excitement and opportunity that comes across the screen. Maybe it’s because you never really outgrow that back-to-school feeling, even long after you graduate. Maybe it’s an acute awareness of holidays around the corner. Maybe it’s the fact that some of the greatest rom-coms of all time are set during the months that end in “-ber.” In any case, the best fall movies and TV make us feel like anything is possible… falling in love, starting something new, winning the big game. And yet, we’re perfectly content to watch those possibilities unfold for someone else,...

The best true crime stories teach us about ourselves — about bravery, cowardice, greed, love and fear. True crime documentaries can be chilling to watch. They can also expose a deep vein of truth, revealing facets of society that would otherwise be hidden away. Nowhere is that quality more potently on display than in stories about cults.
Documentaries and docuseries about cults expose not only their warped power dynamics and chilling secrets, they also explore the voices and lives of those involved.
To paraphrase what the survivors of cults have said in a variety of different ways: Nobody willingly joins a cult. They join a movement, a group of friends, or even a religious organization. But what begins as a noble cause can take a terrible turn: the murder of a young woman covered up for decades, a utopian community’s descent into extortion and poison, a desire to manifest positivity...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Law & Order: Svu Season 25 Episode 11 “Prima Nocta.”] Heading into this season, Svu had a Rollins problem. And no, we’re not just talking about the fact that the show is not the same without her, and we want Kelli Giddish back on the cast full-time. It’s the simple matter of the show establishing that she’s bored teaching, would clearly much rather be back with the squad, and hasn’t really told her husband, Carisi (Peter Scanavino). This one episode addresses all of that. First of all, we have to acknowledge how adorable the family is at home together, with Rollins hiding a pancake in Carisi’s briefcase and the girls telling their father before the couple sees the kids off to school. Then, we find out that Rollins is unemployed! That’s right: She turned down tenure. “I was bored being a professor,” she says (which everyone already knew). With ...

Taylor Swift might sing on her new album Midnights that it “must be exhausting always rooting for the antihero” — but we all know watching them never, ever gets old.
The new song “Anti-Hero” (and its corresponding music video) conjures everything TV and movie lovers know about the antihero character: an outsider brimming with inner turmoil, staring directly at the sun but never in the mirror.
If the track has you itching to spend time with a few more antiheroes, look no further — we’ve rounded up seven shows and movies with those complicated characters you love to root for … even if you know you maybe shouldn’t. (You can also check out the Antiheroes and Outsiders category for even more.)...

Presenting the Oscar for best actress at the 94th Academy Awards earlier this year, Anthony Hopkins described the nominees as actors “who’ve built their careers on some of the most memorable and most unexpected performances in movie after movie after movie.” No surprise, then, that the winner turned out to be Jessica Chastain, who took home the gold for The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
With three Oscar nominations and seven Golden Globe nods (and one win for each), Chastain is a true Hollywood maverick. In her almost two decades on-screen, she’s played spies, troubled wives, real-life heroes (The Zookeeper’s Wife) and power-brokers. She’s gone to space, ruled over a haunted mansion (Crimson Peak) and fought a murderous clown (It: Chapter 2).
To her extensive on-screen résumé, she has...
