Schindehütte was raised as the youngest son of a Pastor in Halstenbek-Krupunder-Rellingen. He acted as a Comedy Magician in the Hamburger Schmidt-Theater. He studied in Göttingen and Hamburg becoming a Ph.D. in Theology and Master of Higher Education. He worked as a Junior Lecturer at the University of Hamburg (2001-2006) in Hamburg. Later he was member of the Project of the Schweizerischer Nationalfonds about Religion and Conversion in plural societies (2008-2011).
Schindehütte was a member of the Green Alternative List Hamburg, Group Vice Chairman in the District Assembly Altona. He was a pioneer of the first black-green coalition in Hamburg.
After serving as Vicar in the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck (2006-2008) he was working as a Protestant pastor in the parish Elnhausen. Schindehütte is CEO of Kerstin Heim e.V., a social institution with home and school giving individual assistance for children and young people with intellectual disabilities. 2014 he was elected by the Synod as Deputy Dean in the church district Marburg. He is member of the Federal Competence Centre for people with blindness and visual impairment in Marburg (blista).
Schindehütte was Executive Producer of the episodic film "ABCs of Superheroes" and Associate Producer of the first Superhero Film from Finland: "Rendel". Both features where shown on the Fantasy Filmfest in Germany and have been part of the official selection Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. In 2016 he started the international Sci-fi-Project "Violent Starr" with Oliver Tietgen.
