Iván Petrovich was born on 1 January 1896 in Novi Sad, Austria-Hungary [now Serbia]. Barney Ruditsky was a New York City detective during the bootlegging years of the 1920s. He distinguished himself by capturing many gangsters during that time. He retired from the force and came to Southern California to become a private detective in 1941. One of his assignments was tailing Marilyn Monroe shortly before her marriage to Joe DiMaggio. He himself hired Ruditsky to seek out information if his bride-to-be was fooling around on him while she was elsewhere in the city out of his presence. A television program (The Lawless Years (1959) was produced starring James Gregory playing Ruditsky" Ruditsky was a technical advisor on the series.
