- Son of the late-great actor, James Cagney, James Jr. was adopted along with sister Cathleen (nickname "Casey") by the senior Cagney and wife 'Bill' in the early forties. James Jr. pre-deceased both his parents, dying of a heart attack in the early eighties. His appearance in "The Gallant Hours" as an infantryman was accompanied by a similarly brief appearance of director Robert Montgomery's son, Bob Jr.
