Brendan Gleeson was born in Dublin, Ireland, to Pat and Frank Gleeson.
From a very young age, he loved to learn, especially reading classical
text in and outside the classroom. He took great attention to Irish
play writers such as Samuel Beckett,
which eventually led to him performing in his high school play
production of "Waiting for Godot", and paying great attention to detail
in his high school drama classes. Upon finishing 12th grade, he spent a
couple of years with the Dublin Shakespeare Festival, and under the
advice of a director there, headed across to London and auditioned for
drama schools. Soon to follow, he was invited to audition for the Royal
Shakespeare Company in Stratford upon Avon, and spent a couple of
seasons back in England on the stage. He then, at the age of thirty
five, decided to audition for films in the UK and began to build a very
respectable resume playing many different diverse characters.
He made his debut as a quarryman in
The Field (1990). He had several small
roles in major Hollywood movies based in Ireland, such as
Far and Away (1992) and
Into the West (1992). Memorably
played historical Irish figure "Michael Collins" in
The Treaty (1991). Made his
breakthrough in Scottish themed
Braveheart (1995), which was largely
filmed in Ireland, opposite
Mel Gibson. He played Gibson's
right-hand man "Hamish". Since then, he has appeared in numerous major
films such as
Mission: Impossible II (2000),
Lake Placid (1999),
Turbulence (1997). He has made a name
for himself taking the titular role in
The General (1998), based on the life
of Irish criminal "Martin Cahill", for which he won the Boston Society
of Film Critics Award. He appears in director
John Boorman's film
The Tailor of Panama (2001)
as well as Martin Scorsese's
Gangs of New York (2002) and
Steven Spielberg's
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001).
Ever since, he has continued to bring his huge stage presence to the

Though born in Great Neck, Long Island, Christopher Lambert's family
left the US when he was only two years old. His father was a United
Nations diplomat assigned to Switzerland and, as a result, Chris was
educated at private boarding schools in Geneva. Inspired through his
having appeared in a play at age 12, he went to the Paris Conservatoire
where he remained for two years. After a few small parts in French
films, beginning in 1980, he successfully competed for the title role
in Warner Bros.
Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984).
His co-stars included Ian Holm,
James Fox and
Ralph Richardson (in his final
film performance). The movie was popular with Tarzan buffs for
remaining faithful (in the first half at least) to
Edgar Rice Burroughs' original
story. Two years later Lambert brought to the screen
Gregory Widens' legendary Connor MacLeod,
the immortal Highlander (1986), born
in the Highlands of Scotland in 1518 and carrying over into the
futuristic
Highlander II: The Quickening (1991)
and

Terence Hill was born as Mario
Girotti on March 29, 1939 in Venice, Italy to a chemist. His mother was
German, and as a child the family lived near Dresden, Saxony, Germany
where they survived the Allied bombings of World War II. Italian
film-maker Dino Risi discovered him at a swimming meet and he made his
first film at the age of 12,
Vacanze col gangster (1952)
(Holiday for Gangsters). He continued acting to finance his studies and
motorcycle hobby. After studying classical literature at the University
of Rome for three years, he decided to devote full time to acting. In
1962 he appeared in Luchino Visconti's
The Leopard (1963), He then
signed a contract for a series of adventure and western films in
Germany. In 1967 he returned to Italy to play the lead in
God Forgives... I Don't! (1967).
While on location in Almeria, Spain, he married an American girl of
Bavarian descent, Lori Zwicklbauer, who was the dialogue coach for the
picture. The producers of this movie wanted him to change his name. He
then got a list with 20 names on it and 24 hours time to choose one of
these names. He decided to take Terence Hill cause he liked it the most
and it has the same initials as his mother's name (Hildegard Thieme).
They only told the public that "Hill" was his wife's name out of
publicity reasons. At this time of upcoming feminism a man who took his
wife's name was something special. In 1976 Hollywood called and he
appeared in March or Die (1977) with
Gene Hackman and starred in
Mr. Billion (1977) with
Valerie Perrine. Since then he has
concentrated on action/adventure films starring himself and often
working with long time partner Bud Spencer.
Terence lives in Massachusetts and is a film producer, as well as
talented and respected actor.- One chillingly infamous screen role for Scott Wilson in 1967 set the tone for an actor who went on to prove himself an invaluable character player for five decades. Born on March 29, 1942, the Atlanta native was awarded a basketball scholarship following high school at Georgia's Southern Tech University to study architecture. Instead, Wilson hitchhiked to Los Angeles on a whim and hooked up one day with an actor he met in a bar who took him to one of his auditions. Allowed to audition himself by chance, Wilson lost the part but was absolutely hooked. Working an assortment of menial jobs, he studied for nearly five years while gaining experience in such local theater productions as "The Importance of Being Earnest."
Scott's fledgling career took off big time after being discovered by director Norman Jewison who cast him as a murder suspect in In the Heat of the Night (1967) starring Sidney Poitier and Best Actor Oscar winner Rod Steiger. If that weren't a sufficient beginning, Wilson immediately followed this with the co-lead role of murderer Richard Hickok in the stark and disturbing In Cold Blood (1967), a superlative adaptation of the Truman Capote best-selling docu-novel. It didn't hurt that Scott himself had a startling resemblance to the real-life killer. Partnering up with Robert Blake as two ex-cons who are eventually executed for the senseless, brutal slaughter of an entire Kansas farm family, the critically acclaimed film put both men squarely on the movie map.
Although a serious contender, out-and-out stardom did not come about for the quietly handsome, slightly forlorn-looking actor. Major roles in major pictures, however, did. Among Scott's early film work were Castle Keep (1969) and The Gypsy Moths (1969), both starring Burt Lancaster; The Grissom Gang (1971); Lolly-Madonna XXX (1973) (again with Steiger); The New Centurions (1972); The Great Gatsby (1974), in which he earned raves as the garage owner who shoots Robert Redford's title character to death in Gatsby's backyard swimming pool; The Ninth Configuration (1980), for which he received a Golden Globe nomination; The Right Stuff (1983); the Venice Film Festival winner A Year of the Quiet Sun (1984); Malone (1987); and Johnny Handsome (1989). TV also showed off Scott's dark, controlled intensity and wide range in later years, appearing in guest spots on such popular dramas as "The X-Files" and "The Twilight Zone," and in a recurring role as Marg Helgenberger's unscrupulous mobster father in "CSI." In mini-movies Scott played everything from Elvis's father in Elvis and the Colonel: The Untold Story (1993) to a Wyoming governor in The Jack Bull (1999).
Hardly one of Hollywood's flashiest good ol' boys, the taciturn, unassuming actor preferred to remain discrete and let his performances do the talking. His output was minimal compared with other character stars, but he remained in the quality ranks nevertheless, mixing his standard penchant for darker movies with such family-oriented films as Shiloh (1996) and its sequels.
Supporting the newer "young guns" these days, he appeared with Vince Vaughn in Clay Pigeons (1998) and Ryan Phillippe in The Way of the Gun (2000), and ended up one of serial killer Charlize Theron's victims in Monster (2003). Other strong showings on the big screen have included a lead part as a rockabilly star in Don't Let Go (2002) and his down-home patriarch in the superb ensemble art film Junebug (2005), a breakout hit with Academy voters.
Into the millennium, Scott maintained a strong film output with gritty roles in Come Early Morning (2006), Saving Shiloh (2006), Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006), The Heartbreak Kid (2007), Saving Grace B. Jones (2009), Radio Free Albemuth (2010), Dorfman in Love (2011) and Hostiles (2017). He ended his career strongly on TV with regular/recurring roles on Damien (2016), as adoptive father Abel Johnson in the mystery series The OA (2016), and gained a notable following sporting a full gray beard and ponytail as grizzled farm owner Hershel Greene on the popular horror series The Walking Dead (2010).
Wilson lived in Los Angeles with his attorney/wife of four decades, Heavenly, who also was an accomplished artist and writer. Diagnosed with leukemia, Scott died on October 6, 2018, aged 76. - Actor

Bud Cort, American actor/comedian, was born Walter Edward Cox in New
Rochelle, New York. The second of five children, he grew up in Rye, New
York, the son of Joseph P. Cox, an orchestra leader, pianist, and owner
of a successful men's clothing store in Rye, and Alma M. Court a former
newspaper and Life magazine reporter and an executive asst. at M.G.M.
in New York City. From early childhood on, Bud displayed a remarkable
acting ability and appeared in countless school plays and community
theatre. Also a talented painter, he earned extra money doing portraits
at art fairs and by commission to the people in Rye. However, he knew
acting was his real dream and began riding trains into New York City at
the age of 14 to begin studying with his first teacher Bill Hickey at
the HB Studios in Greenwich Village.
Upon graduation from Iona Prep School run by the Christian Brothers of
Ireland, Bud applied to the NYU School of the Arts, now known as Tisch.
Unfortunately, the acting department was full but after seeing Bud's
art portfolio he was admitted as a scenic design major in 1967. Bud
continued to study with Bill Hickey and secretly began to work in
commercials, - off Broadway Theater, and the soap opera, "The Doctors."
He formed a comedy team with actress Jeannie Berlin, and later with
Judy Engles, performing Bud's original comedy material all over
Manhattan's burgeoning nightclub scene. Bud and Judy won first place
during amateur night at the famed Village Gate and were signed to a
management contract with the club's owner. Soon after, while appearing
at the famed Upstairs at the Downstairs in the musical revue "Free
Fall," Bud was spotted by Robert Altman who was in New York looking for
actors for his film "M. A. S. H." Bud was hired and from that went on
to play the title role in Altman's next film "Brewster McCloud."
A quirky May-Dec. love story, "Harold and Maude," next saw Cort
opposite Ruth Gordon in arguably his most famous role. After a confused
reception, the film went on to become not only one of the most
successful cult movies in history, but eventually was crowned an
American Film Classic. Bud was also awarded the French equivalent of
the Oscar, the Crystal Star, for Best Actor of the Year. He was also
nominated for a Golden Globe and a British Academy Award.
Resisting type casting, Bud turned down the role of Billy Bibbit in
Milos Forman's "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" and returned to the
theater. He made his Broadway debut opposite Donald Pleasance in Simon
Gray's "Wise Child" at the Helen Hayes Theatre in 1971. Again he
resisted being type cast by Hollywood and finally made his first film
five years after "Harold and Maude," in the political thriller
"Darkness of the Brain" or "Flash" opposite Marcel Bozzuffi (The
Conformist).
Title roles in "Why Shoot the Teacher?" (one of the most successful
films in Canadian history), "The Secret Diary of Sigmund Freud," (a
comedy with Klaus Kinski and Carol Kane), and "She Dances Alone" (a
documentary/fantasy about the real life daughter of Vaslav Nijinski,
with Max Von Sydow) followed and led to countless more films. His
latest films being the Wes Anderson comedy "The Life Aquatic" (with
Bill Murray and Cate Blanchett) as well as "The Number 23" (with Jim
Carrey). Besides his film and theater work, Bud has sung all over the
world from Carnegie Hall in New York, to the Alcazar in Paris. He was
the youngest actor ever given an homage at the Cinematheque in Paris in
an evening hosted by the great comedic actor, Jacques Tati.
Bud lived as a house guest for many years with his dear friend Groucho
Marx. In 1979 Bud survived a near fatal car crash on the Hollywood
Freeway. He continued working in film and theater and co-founded the LA
Classic Theatre Works with, among others, Richard Dreyfuss and Rene
Auberjonois. Bud performed the entire J. D. Salinger novel "The Catcher
in the Rye" live in-studio, as well as the one man show, "An Evening
with Truman Capote" for the radio station KCRW. He appeared with Tom
Waits in the L.A. Premiere of Thomas Babe's "Demon Wine" and was
nominated for the LA Theatre Critics Best Actor award for his
performance in Samuel Beckett's "ENDGAME," which he first played in New
York at the Cherry Lane Theatre. For his performance as Clov, Bud was
awarded the Dramalogue Award as Best Actor.
Recent films include Kevin Smith's "Dogma", Ed Harris' "Pollock", and
his own controversial film, "Ted and Venus" (Col. Tri Star Home Video)
which Bud directed, co-wrote, and starred in with Woody Harrelson and
Gena Rowlands and which initially, like "Harold and Maude" disturbed
some critics and yet was hailed as a "tiny masterpiece," and "a
courageous film, Bud Cort's finest performance."
Bud is a member of the Director's Unit of the Actor's Studio. Besides
Bill Hickey, he has studied extensively with Stella Adler, Joan
Darling, David Craig, and Del Close of 2nd City. Bud recently starred
in televisions "Arrested Development," "Funny or Die Presents", the
highly regarded "Mosley Lane" episode of "Criminal Minds and Chris
Elliot's "Eagleheart" ("Exit Wound the Gift Shop).- Actress

Competition. A horror allegory about a young boy awaiting his brother's
return from a bloody war, this highly acclaimed short went on to win
several national awards (including a Bronze Plaque at the Chicago
International Film festival) and brought Salva to the attention of
Francis Ford Coppola. Coppola then
produced Salva's first theatrical feature,
Clownhouse (1989), which Salva again
wrote and directed. Using the talented cast of his award-winning short,
Salva called the film "a campfire story." However, his early career was
derailed by the revelations of sexual misconduct with one of the film's
underage stars. He was tried, convicted and spent a year in state
prison. He described it as "a dark time in my confused young life, but
also a time when I took responsibility for my own arrested development
and the ramifications of growing up in a deeply dysfunctional family."
His next film brought him to Los Angeles. Based on characters he met in
prison,
The Nature of the Beast (1995),
which Salva wrote and directed, starred
Lance Henriksen and
Eric Roberts and quickly became New
Line Cinema's biggest direct-to-video title of that year. Salva next
made his first big-studio picture,
Powder (1995), a strange tale about an
albino boy with special powers that ironically make him an outcast.
"Powder" received much critical acclaim and made several top-ten lists
for the year.
He next made
Rites of Passage (1999), a
coming-of-age thriller starring
Jason Behr
(Roswell (1999)),
Dean Stockwell and
James Remar which dealt with a homophobic
father who unwittingly pushes his gay son into the arms of a psychotic
killer. In 2001 Salva wrote and directed
Jeepers Creepers (2001), which
was one of the year's breakout hits and set a world record for largest
Labor Day box-office in history, up until that time. Salva followed this up with his sixth
feature film,
Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003),
breaking his old record and setting another Labor Day milestone, as of 2003. His
next film,
Peaceful Warrior (2006), an
adaptation of Dan Millman's best-seller
"The Way of the Peaceful Warrior", was very significant to him because
of the year he spent in prison. The film starred
Nick Nolte and

He has been married to Kristin Taylor since 18 June 2022. They have one child. He was previously married to Emily Montague.- Versatile, award-winning character actress Eileen Heckart, with the lean, horsey face and assured, fervent gait, was born Anna Eileen Herbert on March 29, 1919, in Columbus, Ohio. An only child, she lived with her mother after her parents separated when she was 2 years old, and was eventually adopted by her grandfather, whose surname (Heckart) she took. Her childhood was an acutely unhappy one. Her mother, an alcoholic, was married five times, and her stern grandmother, with whom Eileen was often shuttled off to stay, was physically abusive. To survive, Eileen escaped into the joy of movies as an adolescent.
She graduated from Ohio State University in 1942 with a degree in English. That same year she married John Harrison Yankee Jr., an insurance broker. They had three sons in a union that lasted 54 years, unusual for a feisty, independent lady of show business. While her husband was off to the war (he joined the Navy), she moved to New York and toiled in a number of day jobs while trying to jump start a career in acting. Beginning in summer stock, she took classes at the American Theatre Wing and apprenticed in a number of obscure plays/revues such as "Tinker's Dam" (1943) and "Musical Moment" (1943).
Following extensive work on the NY stage, which included her Broadway debut as an understudy and eventual replacement in "The Voice of the Turtle" (1945), she established herself as a major force on the Great White Way. Her first big break under the Broadway lights was her portrayal of the arch, lonely schoolteacher in William Inge's "Picnic", which earned her both the Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World awards in 1953. (Rosalind Russell played the role in the film version.)
Heckart was in demand by then as flinty, overwrought, down-to-earth types or wise-to-the-bone old gals. Later award-worthy Broadway hits would include "The Bad Seed" (which earned her the Donaldson award), "The Dark at the Top of the Stairs" (Tony-nom), "Invitation to a March" (Tony-nom), and "Butterflies Are Free" (Tony-nom). Intermixed were live performances on TV for such prestigious programs as "Goodyear Television Playhouse", "Kraft Television Theatre", "Studio One", "Suspense", "The Alcoa Hour", and "Playhouse 90".
Heckart was a dominant yet only intermittent force in films, making her debut in the so-so Miracle in the Rain (1956) featured as Jane Wyman's confidante. Although greatly disappointed at losing the bid to recreate her Broadway role in the film version of Picnic (1955) (Rosalind Russell won the honors), she did receive the satisfaction of transferring her scene-chewing stage
role as the despairing, drunken mom whose son falls victim to young Patty McCormack's malevolent mischief in The Bad Seed (1956). For this Eileen copped both Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. During this period she fell into a number of dowdy matrons, dour moms and matter-of-fact gal friends with flashy roles in Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956), Bus Stop (1956), Hot Spell (1958) and Heller in Pink Tights (1960).
Earning another Tony nomination and the New York Drama Critics Award for her brittle role in the 1957 production of Inge's "The Dark at the Top of the Stairs", she was pregnant with her third child when the film version of The Dark at the Top of the Stairs (1960) started rolling and Angela Lansbury stepped in to replace her.
For most of the 1960s, she traded off TV guest parts ("Ben Casey", "Dr. Kildare", "The F.B.I.", "The Defenders") with theater roles ("Pal Joey", "Barefoot in the Park", "You Know I Can't Hear You When the Water's Running"). She was finally rewarded on film as blind Edward Albert's busybody mom in Butterflies Are Free (1972), netting the Academy Award for "Best Supporting Actress". It was a role she had played on Broadway, receiving her fourth Tony nomination.
The Oscar did not bring her the choice roles which other winners had enjoyed but she continued on in all three mediums quite enviably. While not fond of sitcom work, she gave Emmy-style for her guest work on such shows as "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", "Love & War", "Ellen", "Cybill", and was part of a short-lived ensemble series as one of The 5 Mrs. Buchanans (1994). She also put together a one-woman stage tribute to Eleanor Roosevelt and gave assertive theater performances in "The Ladies of the Alamo", "The Cemetery Club", and "Northeast Local".
The Tony Award eluded the four-time nominee during her long, eventful career. The Tony committee finally made up for this oversight in 2000 by awarding her a "special" Tony for "excellence in theater, triggered by her final, multiple award-winning success (Obie, Drama Desk) as an Alzheimer's patient in "The Waverly Gallery" in 2000. In retrospect, it was none too soon as Heckart, who worked nearly until the end, had been diagnosed with lung cancer, which was kept secret until after her death, on December 31, 2001, aged 82. - Jay Ali was born on 29 March 1982 in Barking and Dagenham, London, England, UK. Warner Baxter claimed to have an early pre-disposition toward show
business: "I discovered a boy a block away who would eat worms and
swallow flies for a penny. For one-third of the profits, I exhibited
him in a tent." When he was age 9, his widowed mother moved to San
Francisco where, following the earthquake of 1906, his family lived in
a tent for two weeks "in mortal terror of the fire." By 1910 he was in
vaudeville and from there went on to Broadway plays and movies. A
matinée idol in the silents, he came to prominence as the Cisco Kid
with In Old Arizona (1928), for
which he won an Oscar. He went on to star with
Myrna Loy in
Penthouse (1933) and to what many
consider his best role, that of the doctor who treated
Abraham Lincoln's assassin, in
The Prisoner of Shark Island (1936).
That year his $284,000 income topped the industry. In 1943, after
slipping into a string of B-pictures, he began his Dr. Ordway "Crime
Doctor" series with
Crime Doctor (1943). He had suffered
a nervous breakdown, and these pictures were easy on him (studio sets

Christopher Thornton was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. His father is an amateur opera singer who gave Christopher his first taste of the actor's life when he would have his son accompany him to rehearsals at a local church theatre. Christopher first acted onstage when he majored in drama at the University of New Orleans, performing in anything from Mamet to Shakespeare. He quit school after 2 years and moved to Los Angeles to study at the Stella Adler Conservatory. He joined the student theatre group and performed frequently onstage, where he was spotted by an agent.
He soon booked his first professional job in the horror sequel Watchers II: The Outsider, playing a young man taking a prostitute to a motel, only to have his eyes ripped out by a psychopathic mutant. For the next year, Christopher continued to book small roles on television, while remaining committed to his theatre roots, appearing constantly with his small company in numerous plays on the Los Angeles equity waiver scene.
Tragedy struck, however, at the tender age of 25, when Christopher sustained two fractured vertebrae in a rock climbing fall, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Unsure of his future, Christopher was quickly cast in a lead role by his theatre company in a small production of Waiting For Godot only six months after his accident. At first shaky and unsure himself, Christopher went on to win a Drama-Logue award for his performance, playing the role of Estragon in a wheelchair.
Christopher would go on to do several more stage roles for the company, eventually being spotted by a new agent and sent to audition for a network pilot. Christopher landed a major role and thought his lucky break had finally come, but the pilot was not picked up.
In 2000 Christopher was cast by Joanne Linville as Hamlet at the Lillian Theatre in Los Angeles, for which he won rave reviews and is considered to be the only known actor to have played the iconic role in a wheelchair. His performance went on to be a break, of sorts, in the theatre world, bringing him to the attention of the Mark Taper Forum and playwright John Belluso. Christopher auditioned and was cast in a supporting role in Belluso's The Body Of Bourne at the Taper, and went on to take over the leading role. This experience formed a strong working relationship between Thornton and Belluso, himself disabled, whose plays tended to deal with issues of disability. Christopher performed a leading role in the premiere of Belluso's Pyretown in upstate New York, and later made his Off-Broadway debut reprising the role to glowing reviews in New York City.
Christopher has gone on to work extensively in Television, starring in 4 network pilots, and guest starring in such shows as Unhitched, My Name Is Earl, and Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm. He also remains committed to his first love, the theatre, recently receiving rave reviews for his performance as a drug addicted Iraqi veteran in The Poor Itch at the Public Theatre in New York in 2008.- Josh Blaylock was born on 29 March 1990 in Plano, Texas, USA.
