Pier Paolo Pasolini achieved fame and notoriety long before he entered the film industry. A published poet at 19, he had already written numerous novels and essays before his first screenplay in 1954. His first film Accattone (1961) was based on his own novel and its violent depiction of the life of a pimp in the slums of Rome caused a sensation. He was arrested in 1962 when his contribution to the portmanteau film Ro.Go.Pa.G. (1963) was considered blasphemous and given a suspended sentence. It might have been expected that his next film, The Gospel According to St. Matthew (1964) (The Gospel According to St. Matthew), which presented the Biblical story in a totally realistic, stripped-down style, would cause a similar fuss but, in fact, it was rapturously acclaimed as one of the few honest portrayals of Christ on screen. Its original Italian title pointedly omitted the Saint in St. Matthew). Pasolini's film career would then alternate distinctly personal and often scandalously erotic adaptations of classic literary texts: Oedipus Rex (1967) (Oedipus Rex); The Decameron (1971); The Canterbury Tales (1972) (The Canterbury Tales); Arabian Nights (1974) (Arabian Nights), with his own more personal projects, expressing his controversial views on Marxism, atheism, fascism and homosexuality, notably Teorema (1968) (Theorem), Pigsty and the notorious Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975), a relentlessly grim fusion of Benito Mussolini's Fascist Italy with the 'Marquis de Sade' which was banned in Italy and many other countries for several years. Pasolini was murdered in still-mysterious circumstances shortly after completing the film.- Serena Grandi was born on 23 March 1958 in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Romano Reggiani, born in 1993, is an Italian actor and musician. He studied at the CSC (national acting school in Rome). He takes his first steps in the Italian film industry shooting numerous shorts and making small appearances in several productions. He obtains his first important role in the film "Party cloudy with sunny spells" directed by Marco Pontecorvo, with Luca Zingaretti and John Turturro. He joins the cast as one of the main characters of many successful Italian TV series like "Una Grande Famiglia 3" by Riccardo Donna, "Tutti Insieme All'Improvviso" by Francesco Pavolini, "Scomparsa" by Fabrizio Costa, "L'amore strappato" by Ricky Tognazzi, "Vite in fuga" by Luca Ribuoli. He is also chosen for the Sky Atlantic project "1993" directed by Giuseppe Gagliardi and then he is the leading actor for the tv series "Mental". Romano obtain the leading role for the American movie: "Lamborghini - the legend", directed by the oscar winner Bobby Moresco, where he plays the young Ferruccio Lamborghini next to a huge international cast. He also joins the cast of the Cinese movie: "The Italian recipe", directed by Zuxin Hou. He directs a short called "The sleeper in the valley" about the memory of the first world war and a videoclip called "No-hard feelings" for New Music International. Now he's working on his first movie:"We are here".- Often cited as the best referee of his generation by players and fans alike, Pierluigi Collina was respected for his no-nonsense approach to officiating. He is instantly recognizable as he contracted a severe form of alopecia, resulting in the permanent loss of all his hair, giving him his distinctive bald appearance and earning the nickname Kojak. Coincidentally, this happened around the same time that he began refereeing more high-profile matches in the Italian Serie A League (about 1988).
He grew up in Bologne and graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Bologne in 1984. During his teenage years, he played as a central defender for a local team, but was persuaded in 1977 to take a referee's course, where it was discovered that he had a particular aptitude for the job.
Given his natural ability as a referee it didn't take him long to climb through the ranks, and within 3 years he was officiating in top-flight football. All achieved whilst completing his compulsory military service.
After taking charge of 43 Serie A matches he was placed on FIFA's Referees List--this being the pinnacle of any football referee's career. He was allocated five matches at the 1996 Olympic Games, including the final between Nigeria and Argentina.
Then, within the space of 3 years, Pierluigi was placed in charge of the world's 2 biggest football matches; the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final between Bayern Munich and Manchester United, and the 2002 World Cup final between Brazil and Germany.
In his book Le mie regole del gioco ("my rules", not "the rules"), Pierluigi writes about his preparations before a match, which perhaps give some insight into why he was such a top referee. He was a stickler for detail and always tried to find out as much as possible about the teams, the players, the style of play, and the history between the teams. He knew beforehand what a coach would do when his team was a goal behind, and he even wanted to know whether the players were left or right footed!
He met his future wife Gianna in 1988 in Versilia and after living together for a while they moved to the coastal town of Viareggio. The couple have since had 2 children.
Pierluigi is famous the world over, particularly in Japan after appearing in a TV commercial for frozen takoyaki products. He also officiated the Second Round match between Japan and Turkey at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
He retired in 2005 after refereeing his last major international tournament, Euro 2004.
His love for football continued after his retirement and he acts as a non-paid consultant to the Italian Football Referees Association (AIA), and is a member of the UEFA Referees Committee. He has also been the head of referees for the Football Federation of Ukraine since 2010. He is represented in London by Useful Sports Agency. - Director
