- Amanda decides to take part in a protest for Animal Rights against a lab that conducts tests on animals. Soon, Amanda finds herself getting deep into the cause when she decides to go vegan and throw out all of her leather clothing items. When things get intense in the group, Amanda learns that not everything is so black and white.
- Busy and Amanda are listening to a sex talk radio show and start discussing their experiences. Amanda goes to Busy's house and has an embarrassing encounter. Later that night, Amanda begins to worry that she is overly preoccupied with sex. Busy tries to get Amanda to help her solve a sexy mystery but Amanda is worried about seeming perverted. Ultimately the girls realize that they're curiosity is perfectly normal.
- Busy and Amanda are reading a romance novel and start talking about love and sex. Amanda has an embarrassing encounter with her parents. Amanda avoids talking to her father about it. Later, Amanda is babysitting and Busy comes over to hang out. The girls stumble on a sex guide and hide it so they won't get caught looking at it. Amanda struggles with keeping the book hidden when she discovers that it's fallen into someone else's hands. Busy attempts to ask her brother Dom about sex but is interrupted. Amanda must eventually face the music with her parents. After a frank discussion with her mother, Amanda's tension is released. Busy and Amanda then talk about their futures.
- Troy finally gets a job by working for Busy's father. But money soon goes missing and Busy's father fires Troy and shows that he is a racist.
- Amanda's parents are fighting. Trying to distract herself, Amanda goes to the mall with Busy. However, later that evening, Amanda's parents let her know that her dad will be moving out of the house. Amanda become angry at her mother for not trying harder to work things out with her father. Amanda attempts to talk to Busy about her situation by going to Busy's house. Not wanting to encroach on Busy's family time Amanda heads to the mall where she hides out while its closing. The night guard at the mall discovers Amanda and agrees not to call the police or Amanda's parents if she leaves with Busy and her mother. Amanda's parents sit down with her and remind her that they still care about her even though they live apart.
- Busy has gotten her period and worries she will be a different person because of it.
- While walking home from school, Busy and Amanda bump into Busy's brother Dom. The girls sense that Dom is in some kind of trouble and when Busy learns the truth, she decides to try to help fix the situation.
- Amanda is excited because Danny will be back in town soon, but when he arrives Amanda finds that things have changed. Preoccupied with her physical image, Amanda wonders if she can continue to be in a relationship with the "new" Danny.
- Amanda is involved with a weekend acting workshop but her plans must change when her mother asks her to babysit her boyfriend's young daughter Pheobe. Fearing that she will be penalized for missing the workshop, Amanda changes things around to accommodate both the workshop and babysitting. Unfortunately, her plans don't go as expected and Amanda must face the consequences.
- Busy and Amanda spend the day at the fun park. Each girl finds themselves connecting with a boy, but with two very different results. After the dust settles, the girls talk about what happened and boy's expectations.
- Troy tries to make the moves on Busy while the are alone. Busy rebuffs every advance and starts to feel uncomfortable. Busy confides to Amanda that Troy is starting to act "weird" around her. Meanwhile, Amanda is lamenting the fact that Danny must leave for his mother's home in New York and she tells Busy that she's lucky to have Troy around. Troy keeps wanting to move things forward things get awkward. Busy finally gets the chance to talk things over with Amanda and she reveals that she wishes that things wouldn't change between her and Troy. Busy tells Troy that she wants to slow things down but not break up. Troy's feelings get hurt when Busy chooses to practice with her band rather than spending time with him. Busy struggles with telling Troy her true feelings but he is still hurt.
- A new group of stuck up girls want to be friends with Amanda. Amanda tries to get them to include Busy but they make it clear that she is not wanted. When Busy tries to fit in with the girls by revealing a secret about Amanda, things get awkward. Eventually, Amanda tries to find out from Busy why the girls are ignoring her and she learns the truth about what Busy said and it causes a rift. Busy does what she can to repair the damage.
- During an overnight band trip, Amanda accidentally walks in on Chrissy and Justin in a closet. When they don't return until the morning, rumors start going around.
- Busy's family is sitting down for Chinese takeout when her father gets a phone call from her mother (who has been away at her mother's house) and she tells them that she is coming home. Busy gets the house in order while waiting. The Ramones have a sit down and Mrs. Ramone agrees to only move back if everyone goes to Family Therapy. With the therapist, the Ramones begin to air their grievances. The therapist gives each family member "homework" for the week. Back at the house, Mrs. Ramone tells everyone that she is moving back in but that things need to change. The next evening, Busy makes dinner for the family and things are a bit quiet and awkward. Busy tries to keep the peace with everyone. The family agrees that the workload around the house should be divided equally to maintain fairness.
- Troy writes a poem for Busy. With some prodding from his friends, Troy asks her to go out with him on a bowling date. Amanda helps Busy to get ready for her date with some disastrous results. Busy's brothers seem to find out about the date and try to give her some well intentioned advice. Meanwhile, Troy has his own struggles getting ready. Busy doesn't want her father to know that she's going out so Amanda does her best to distract Mr. Ramone while Busy sneaks out with Troy. With Troy's father as the chaperone for their date, Troy and Busy start bowling with a bit of awkwardness. Busy decides to change out of her "date clothes" and into her regular clothes and begins to have more fun on the date. Troy's ego takes a hit during the date and it ends on a pretty low note. Busy and Amanda rehash the date at Amanda's house and Troy shows up to apologize for his behavior.
- On their first day of ninth grade in a new school, Busy and Amanda find themselves meeting new friends and perhaps encountering new enemies. In such a new environment, it's hard for the girls to know who to trust.
- Amanda's mom and boyfriend are going out of town and Amanda has the loft all to herself. Trying to impress some older boys, Amanda decides to throw a party and quickly realizes the price of popularity.
- Busy and Amanda are hard at work on the yearbook when they go over the "Bests and Mosts" lists. A teacher asks Amanda to tutor an 8th grade student. Amanda worries that people see her as a nerd so she starts hiding her intellect. Amanda soon learns that she may not be so different from the popular girl after all.
- During a presentation by their guidance councilor, Busy and Amanda learn that they have a few new options for continuing high school. The girls get excited about the prospect of attending a performing arts school together but each discover that they have issues with their chosen paths.
- Amanda decides that her best bet at becoming a famous actress is to become a model first. Quickly, she learns that the modeling industry is very critical and she begins to turn a critical eye on herself. Amanda comes to realize that everyone has their own insecurities, even "perfect" people.
- As the girls prepare for their graduation from Dorsey Junior High, Amanda decides to reach out to her father by inviting him to the ceremony. After the ceremony, Amanda still feels like she may never reconcile fully with her father even though her parents seem to have. Eventually the girls begin to understand the importance of change and moving forward.
- Busy has a crush on her karate teacher but finds out he is gay and Busy wonders if being gay is wrong.
- The girls begin planning for their new high school when Amanda tells Busy some news that changes things dramatically. Amanda and Busy decide to go to a party in an old building when chaos occurs. The girls reflect on their friendship and what the future may hold.
- A new boy named Aiden transfers to school and Busy finds herself wanting to help him fit in but also being uncomfortable with the fact that he is in a wheelchair. When an injustice occurs in her science class Busy decides to take a stand.
