With their pursuers close behind them, Tony and Laura are forced to keep running. In the course of their journey, the initial distrust between them will turn into a deep friendship.
- San Ginés de la Sierra (Spain), a small town lost in the mountains, near Despeñaperros, is famous for its persistent drought and for an asylum called "The home of the vanquished", where twenty old men reside under the care of some nuns. To solve the economic problems of the center, it is decided to organize a charity bullfight, and the mayor gives them the bullring. Only bulls and bullfighters are missing. To this end, three nuns set out on a trip to Málaga to get what they need. There they will contact Juncal, a poor devil who pretends to be an expert in the bullfighting world.
- Title changed to "Flamenco" when it was first released in the USA in 1954, this is a program of Spanish songs and dances with the emphasis on "flamenco" or gypsy contributions. The USA version has an English narrative written by Walter Terry, the dance critic of the "New York Herald Tribune" newspaper. Heading the cast are Antonio (I), Pilar Lopez and Maria Luz, three of Spain's foremost dancers of the time, accompanied by members of the Ballet Espanol. Faced with the impossible task of surviving the frozen winter without suitable facilities, as well as local legislation that prevents them from staying on the island over winter, the 83 whalers spread out in vain to search for vessels in which to travel home. In the meantime, protected by King Christian IV's legislation, Ari Magnússon sees a chance to assert his authority and gain reputation, by leading the peasantry to capture and murder the Basques The time is now right to explore this intrepid adventure of extreme survival, through the eyes of the erudite Jón Guðmundsson; the scholar who publicly denounced the death of his Basque friends and the biggest massacre in Iceland's history through his writings. An accusation he would pay for dearly, by being condemned to exile until his death.
