- Sydney and Vaughn tell Jack about Sloane's alleged involvement in Vaughn's search for his father and Irina's contract on Sydney's life. After cornering Sloane, they both conclude that someone is framing him. The APO team set a trap to catch the fake A. Sloane, but they fail. Once they realize what "Arvin Clone" is after, Sloane suggests to step down, temporarily. However, Sydney reluctantly convinces him to stay on the case, since he may the only person able to anticipate "Arvin Clone"'s next move. But Nadia fears that this pursuit may revive her father's past obsession: Rambaldi.

With Amanda absent, the situation at D&D grows from bad to worse when Alison and Billy lose a client. Alison inadvertently makes matters even worse when she tells the client to stay by confiding in him about Amanda's illness. But the client leaves anyway, and more clients do so after word of Amanda's illness spreads through D&D. After Jo's apartment is broken into and trashed for the photos she took of Rawlings murdering the drug dealer, she and Matt hesitate on what to do. When Rawlings thinks that Matt and Jo will expose him to Internal Affairs, he holds both of them hostage in Matt's apartment to get them to talk to look for the photos. Meanwhile, Sydney thanks Jane and Jake for rescuing her from Martin Abbott's cult, but to her surprise neither one still wants to associate with Sydney, and worse still, neither Jane or Jake will apologize to her for thinking she was responsible for the incidents that they still mistakingly think Sydney was capable of doing. When Sydney tells Jake that she wants to get back together with him, he rebuffs her by saying that his love interest has moved to Jane, of all people.
- Alison and Billy find Brooke dead in the Melrose swimming pool after she accidentally fell in while drunk. Billy has a hard time getting over Brooke's death in which he becomes haunted by her ghost. Matt becomes jealous when Alan is rehearsing a romance scene with an actress named Valerie. Meanwhile, Jane asks Alison to help her start her new design company, and in the process, lands a big account that Richard was after. In an effort to ease tensions between Peter and Bobby, Amanda arranges a double-date with her and Bobby, Peter and Alycia. Elsewhere, Michael asks Kimberly to stay at his beach house and Sydney moves back into her old apartment.
- In this two-hour episode, Alycia tells Bobby that he owes $2 million to operate his TV cable company. Amanda offers to help Bobby while Peter hires Sydney as his date at a hospital fund raiser to break up Bobby and Amanda, but it doesn't work, and Sydney just ends up with a wine-splattered dress. Meanwhile, Jake offers Jane his garage to start her new business, much to Jo's dismay. Determined to sink Jane, Richard makes his employees, including Jo, work overtime to put out a new line. The serial killer/rapist Vic, released from jail by a computer error, kidnaps Kimberly in her car until Michael arrives to rescue her in a high-speed car chase, which ends with Vic's fiery death and a renewed romance between Michael and Kimberly. Matt, still uncomfortable about Alan not wanting to reveal his homosexuality to the public, threatens to break up with him if he doesn't come out of the closet. Brooke's life falls further apart after she is evicted from her hotel room when Billy cancels her credit cards. Then Amanda fires Brooke from D&D for her tardiness and hostility. Alison finds Brooke, broke and alone, living in her car and lets her stay at her apartment, much to Billy's chagrin.
- In the ninety-minute season finale, Amanda's pending promotion to replace Lucy as vice-president of D&D is put in jeopardy because of her pregnancy, until she miscarries. Meanwhile, Alison's old boyfriend, Keith, inconspicuously returns to Los Angeles and when he sees her with Billy, he starts to send her threatening mail and attacks Billy. Alison starts drowning her fears and sorrows with hard liquor. Jo gets arrested for carrying a concealed weapon while she and Jake are trying to decide whether or not to live together after learning of the Melrose complex being put up for sale. After dinner at a Chinese restaurant, Rhonda and Terrence finally make up and they decide to go through with their wedding after all. Michael treats Jane to a romantic dinner and a weekend getaway where he tells her that he wants her forgiveness, but Kimberly makes it clear to Jane that she does not want to let go of Michael.
- The evil and devious Grayson begins her plan to break up Adam and Monique by playing on Adam's sympathy in which he moves her into his house. But when Adam continues to spend time with Monique, Grayson deliberately fakes a suicide attempt. Meanwhile, Craig takes Julie on a fantasy evening where he pulls out all stops to make up with her. Rape victim Cynthia enters a therapy group to deal with her trauma. Also, Sarah's continued drinking seals her fate with Hillary who catches Sarah during one of her drunken stages.
- Craig takes Julie to Hawaii for a vacation where she ruins the trip by making business connections to further advance her career. Afterwards, Craig finally breaks up with Julie after she admits that she cares more about her career than him. After Adam learns that Grayson faked a suicide attempt, he officially files for divorce. But Grayson blocks Adam's plans for their divorce by refusing to yield her shares of Stage 99 during a divorce settlement. After her success in a photo shoot, Sarah gets an overconfident, egotistical leap and gets on everyone's nerves. Also, Cynthia still has problems despite dropping group therapy when she becomes obsessed with her looks and begins eating and purging.
