- After discovering that Cyrus Peabody, the president of the bank, and his son Ernest have embezzled $35,000, their cashier, Paul Revere Forbes, threatens to expose them. In a rage, the two men strike him on the head and, persuaded that the busybody is dead, ask their broker to dump the body off in a deserted place. But the broker has an accident and is killed in the crash. The cashier, who was actually still alive, comes to and, while suffering a loss of memory, wanders off. Still believing their employee dead, the Peabodys accuse their cashier of having stolen the money. But Beatrice Forbes, Paul Revere's daughter, and her boyfriend, idle-turned-responsible Billy Winthrop, are on the alert.
- Chalmers, young space writer on the Beacon, is approached by a seedy man named Tripp from the mechanical department of the paper, who says he has knowledge of a big story that may be obtained, worth $15 in space rates, if he will but spend $4 to get it. Chalmers has just earned $5, but will not risk it until he hears more about the matter. Tripp then confides that the story is about a young runaway girl from the country. He found her on the streets utterly bewildered, and she told him about venturing to New York to find one George Brown. She said she was about to marry a rich young farmer at home, but she couldn't forget George Brown, the lover who had gone to the city four years before, promising to come back. Tripp, therefore, had taken her to a boarding house and put her in hock, so to speak, until he could raise money to send her home, for she had arrived with but 25 cents, all of which she had spent on gumdrops. The chivalry of Chalmers is aroused, and he goes with Tripp to the boarding house, pays the girl's board bill and advances fare back home. The girl shows him a broken silver dime, the keepsake Brown had given her, the other half of which he had put on his watch chain. He urges her strongly to forget about Brown, who is doubtless a worthless fellow, and to marry the rich farmer. All of this good advice Tripp seconds. Chalmers now has his story, but as he turns from the ferry station he sees Tripp's shabby coat fall back and discerns on his cheap silver watch chain the other half of the dime. Tripp is the missing George Brown. The reporter realizes that this is a drama of human souls too sacred to be profaned, and brings into the office the report, "No story."

- Widely regarded as the greatest baseball player who ever lived, Ty Cobb made his only starring movie appearance in the low-budget six-reeler "Somewhere in Georgia". Based on a story by legendary sports columnist Grantland Rice, the film casts Cobb as "himself", a small-town Georgian bank clerk with a talent for baseball. When he's signed to play with the Detroit Tigers, Cobb is forced to leave his sweetheart (Elsie McLeod) behind, whereupon a crooked bank cashier sets his sights on the girl. Upon learning that Cobb has briefly returned home to play an exhibition game with his old team, the cashier arranges for Our Hero to be kidnapped. Breaking loose from his bonds, Cobb beats up each each and every one of his captors and shows up at the ballfield =just= in time to win the game for the home team.
- Snitch steals Ginger's baseball tickets and takes Ginger's girl to the game. Finding himself without tickets, Ginger dresses as a baseball player and wins the game.

When Kuno finds the empty rowboat, he assumes that Elly has drowned - little suspecting that she has eloped to the Orient, or wherever wealthy maharajahs live.

- During the French Revolution, Englishman Sir Percy Blakeney is considered to be a terrible fop, completely unaware of the seriousness of the political situation abroad. In reality, Sir Percy is a hero to the French aristocrats and is known as "The Scarlet Pimpernel." His wife, Lady Marguerite, shares the opinion of most that Sir Percy is useless, until his heroism is proven when she discovers his secret identity. In Calais, Sir Percy is able to elude Chauvelin, a member of the new French government, even though Chauvelin threatens the safety of Lady Marguerite's brother, Armand St. Just. Lady Marguerite goes to Calais to aid her husband, and they finally are able to escape on a ship bound for England, assured of their love for each other.
- A writer bets a friend that he can write a 10,000-word novel in 24 hours. The friends takes the bet, and gives him the keys to his Baldpate Inn, which has been closed for the winter, so he can write in complete seclusion. Things start heating up, though, when a succession of people who also have keys to the inn begin showing up.
- The lives and loves of four sisters during their pastor father's absence.
- Hilde Warren, a famous actress, is impregnated by a convicted murderer and becomes plagued by visions of an extremely gaunt and sepulchral Death. Upon discovering her child is the image of its criminal father, Hilde must decide whether to allow it to live or to kill it and risk the embrace of Death himself.
- In a drugstore Al and Roscoe are rivals for Alice. Roscoe slings melons and operates the gas pump. Buster delivers a wedding gown for Alice, begins modeling it, is mistaken for Alice and is kidnapped by Al.
- Efficiency wins success in business; why not in love? Edgar Bumpus, a rising young man, applies this reasoning to his courtship of Mary Pierce. He first eliminates Wimple, his closest competitor, who plays a guitar, by learning to play a saxophone, which makes louder noise, and by sending Mary flowers and candy each time Wimple calls on her. The plan works O.K., until the saxophone disturbs Mr. Pierce's slumbers. He and Edgar clash and the latter is forbidden to visit Mary any more. Edgar employs a clipping bureau to send news items to Mr. Pierce which tells of the troubles young girls get into when their fathers refuse to let them have beaux. One eloped with a milkman; another disappeared. This has no effect upon Mr. Pierce, however, except to make him hate Edgar more. However, the youth's persistence finally wins Mary's love. Then Edgar plays his trump card. He gets Mary to sign a legal agreement to forfeit $10,000 to him, unless she marries him. The two then confront Mr. Pierce with this document. Rather than lose the money, he consents to lose his daughter, the only stipulation being that Edgar will throw away his saxophone. Thus efficiency triumphs.
- An immoral small-town girl steals money from her drunk lover in order to go to a big city. There she becomes a cabaret star and seduces a wealthy married entrepreneur.

- Juan Gallardo, a poor but ambitious young shoemaker's son in Southern Spain yearns to be a matador. To that end he and his companions set out for Seville where he eventually finds fame and fortune in the arena. Fawning admirers and parasites, beginning with his brother in law and sister, whom he sets up in their own business surround him. He marries his sweetheart Carmen, only to to neglect her when he meets a Dona Alvira, a man-eating femme fatale attracted to celebrities as long as they remain on top. He also meets a notorious bandit, Plumitas who terrorizes the local countryside and happily evades the law. Eventually, due to his obsession with Dona Elvira, Juan's skills begin to slip and his star begins to fade. His adoring followers drift away and he is fatally gored in the arena. Despite the efforts of the Doctor, Ruiz, he dies with his faithful wife Carmen at his bedside. At the same time, the bandit is recognized in the audience by a detective and is shot dead during an escape attempt, this fulfilling his prophecy that both he and Gallardo will die violently, Gallardo by the bulls and he by the firing squad.
