Hollywoodnews.com: For years, Hollywood has spent time and money adapting the works of Charles Dickens. Finally, the author will get to be the lead (of sorts) in a film.
Alex Ross, a film producer (“The List”) and the founder of WriteMovies.com, has announced that his latest feature project, “The Chimes,” will focus on an almost cataclysmic love affair in the life of “Oliver Twist” author Charles Dickens. The plot summary in a press release we received says: “When Dickens falls in love with beautiful, mysterious Isabella, he is drawn into her dark, dangerous world and risks everything to be with her, even his life.”
The movie is to shoot in London and Italy. Filming is anticipated to start in the summer of 2011. “The Chimes” was written by British screenwriter Callie Lane, who also is adapting the material for a stage musical.
