Harold Lloyd and the Thrill Effect
Single-Black-Male6 November 2003
The missing ingredient in Lloyd's previous short films was the thrill effect. Never mind being the opposite of Chaplin, or even just creating a 'glasses' character. The fact that he brought thrills to his short films like this one gave him the edge in 1919 as the silent short film comedy king.
