Sex & Nudity

  • A woman's breast is briefly visible, although it is somewhat subtle and might not be immediately noticeable.
  • Updated rating: PG-13 for brief violence, sexuality, and smoking throughout
  • During the idol scene, many people are seen having orgies. Nothing is seen, however, it is quite strong.
  • Miriam strips down to a bra, and is presumably about to have sex with Dathan until she notices the leprosy on her arms.
  • A character is shown to be very seductive.
  • There is a theme about commiting adultry.

Violence & Gore

  • Characters are whipped and mistreated during the opening scene. Some blood is shown.
  • A man is forced to be crushed as he has fallen down and is unable to get up. The scene pans away when he gets crushed, so nothing is shown.

Profanity

  • A few uses of hell, however, it is all referring to hell itself, so nothing should be inappropriate.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Smoking is very frequent after the first 50 minutes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Mary Leigh (Leatrice Joy) comes close to falling off a church building under construction which was being built on substandard concrete. She loses her footing and clings desperately with her hands. She is saved however. In the same scene, a man also almost falls while trying to grab some falling money.
  • The opening scene is quite harsh and violent, and may be intense for some viewers.
  • The scene where God punishes the people who worshipped the idol may frighten younger audiences.
  • Some of the actions of Danny Mctavish (Rod La Rocque) may offend or distress some people.
  • The theme of punishment, leprosy, murder, and suicide may disturb some viewers.
  • (Deleted. Personal opinions about ratings and suitable viewing ages are not appropriate for the Parents Guide.)
