First MGM film to use the sound on film process.
This was the first MGM film released with an optical sound-track (Western Electric variable density.) Prior to this, MGM used Warner Bros' sound-on-disk method.
Remade in 1937 with Joan Crawford, Robert Montgomery and William Powell.
Remade a second time by MGM in 1951 under the title "The Law and the Lady" starring Greer Garson, Michael Wilding, Natalie Schafer, and Fernando Lamas.
The play opened in London, England, UK on 22 September 1925 and on Broadway in New York City, New York, USA on 9 November 1925. The Broadway production had 385 performances with an opening cast including Helen Hayes, Roland Young, Felix Aylmer, Ina Clare, Winifred Harris and Lionel Pape.
