A proper ending was scripted, which had Mrs. Hardy returning with an adopted baby of her own. Stan Laurel kept improvising so much he caused the film to go over schedule and over budget, leaving it with no real ending. This is a rare film for the duo, to have no resolution at the end.
At one point, Ollie instructs Stan that if he "must make a noise, make it quietly." This line was previously spoken by Stan, which disgusted Ollie, in Brats (1930), another Laurel and Hardy short in which they're stuck taking care of noisy children.
Filming began on September 21st 1932, shortly after they arrived back from their Summer vacation tour in which they visited New York, London, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Paris in July and August.
Shown in France in 1935 as a part of "Les Joies du mariage", a program consisting of three Laurel & Hardy shorts.
