The original play "Goodbye Again" by Allan Scott and George Haight opened in New York at the Theatre Masque on 28 December 1932 and ran until July 1933 for 216 performances.
Although Joan Blondell's character is referred to as "Miss Rogers," she wears a wedding ring throughout the film. She and George Barnes, the film's cinematographer, had married in January 1933, just a few months before the production of the film began. He was Blondell's first husband (of three) and she was Barnes's fourth wife (of seven). They divorced in September 1936.
