This originally was based on a Persian story By Hazat -Jak Ruz.It was later turned in to play by Carlo Gozi.Later a play by Frederich Schiller.The plot was That the Emporer and Empress of China is choosing a suitor for their Daughter Turnadot.The suitor must solve Three puzzles first .If he loses then it's off with their head.The Prince wins ,but, she does not want him cause she he won too easy.He makes a deal with her that if she solves his puzzle then he can call if off.In This German film version Kalaf,played by Willy Fritsch, is occidental and is a bird seller.He has a servant ,who also occidental, played by Paul Kemp,Wilibald .In this version Willy Frees Prince Samarkand,played by Paul Hiedieman,From being executed and decides Willy want to solve those riddles himself ,to marry Turnadot.Willy discovers that no body ,who loses ,is behead ,only wax dummy heads are created to hang on the wall Kathy Von Nagy plays Turnadot and Ingi List ,plays her servant,she also was in The Sugar princes ,also with Paul Kemp.In this film version.There are some musical number in this film.Theo Von Harbou ,ex wife of Fritz Lang, wrote the screen play.Stalwart German character actor,Aribert Wascher plays the Judge.Rounding the rest of the cast .Leopoldine Konstatin ,who was in Und Du Mein Schatz Fahrst Mit and Notorious, plays the Empress.Willi Schaeffers , Who was in Fools in the snow,plays the Emperor.Hollywood style type film ,in A Nazi dictatorship .04/16/15
