Yes. Rebecca is based on a 1938 novel by British writer Daphne du Maurier.

Alfred Hitchcock is known for placing himself in a short cameo in each of his movies. His cameo in Rebecca falls about four minutes into the movie. When Jack Favell [George Sanders] is in a telephone booth calling to tell Dr Danver [Judith Anderson] about Rebecca's suicide, Hitch can be seen from behind, wearing a bowler hat and standing next to the booth.
