. . . who famously said during one interview that ALL Looney Tunes need to be considered in the political context of their CURRENT viewership. So what cautions does SADDLE SILLY have for We Americans of (The Then) Far Future? First of all, it's clear that Warner's uncannily accurate Prophets of Doom are setting this entire sorry story inside the brain of Red Commie KGB Chief Election-Rigger Turned U.S. Czar Vlad "The Mad Russian" Putin's White House Sock Puppet, Don Juan Rump. As diagnosed this week on the U.S. National Late-Night Radio Show Coast-to-Coast by Dr. Kathleen, Rump was exposed to cat litter BEFORE he was sent off to Reform School as a teen (most likely BECAUSE of this exposure!), where he was recruited to head the KGB Sleeper Cell today known as the Rump\Kushner Family Crime Syndicate. As Dr. K. describes Rump's condition, Rump's Toxoplasmosis Larvae from the cats hunkered down dormant in his brain, possibly for as long as a decade, behind massively thick cell walls. However, as happens with One Per Cent of the U.S. Population (these would be the Sociopathic Fat Cat Minions of the Corrupt Job-Killing "Conservative" Commie Corporate Ilk), Rump's Toxoplasmosis Larvae eventually broke free, running amok as they began to squirt Great Gobs of Dopamine into every Nook and Cranny, turning Rump into an irrationally xenophobic paranoid schizophrenic subject to suicidal depression and random outbursts of uncontrollable anger. All of this is depicted down to the smallest detail during the course of SADDLE SILLY. The mysterious hitchhiker who emerges from Rump's mail bag to close out this animated short is a particularly spot-on representation of the Parasitic Larvae (aka, "Fellow Travelers") infesting the brains of an increasing number of Americans (usually referred to by Today's Media as "Rump's Core Supporters"). As with any Cancer Plaguing America, Warner Bros. insists that these centers of illness be excised from the Body Politic ASAP (preferably via immediate deportation to Antarctica's Larsen Ice Shelf B).

Warning: Spoilers
CAST: "Pony Express Rider", "Dispatcher".

Director: CHARLES M. JONES. (There is no story credit, which means that either the writers were ashamed of it or that practically the whole department, including the cleaning lady, contributed ideas). Animation: Philip de Lara. Music director: Carl W. Stalling. Voice characterizations: Mel Blanc. Color by Technicolor. Producer: Leon Schlesinger.

Copyright 15 November 1941 by The Vitaphone Corp. A Warner Bros. "Merrie Melodies" cartoon, produced by Leon Schlesinger Productions. U.S. release: 8 November 1941. 1 reel. 7 minutes.

COMMENT: Presumably this tribute to the "Phoney Express" was dreamt up by a stable of Schlesinger artists. The movie features some nice scenery and Grand Canyonesque backgrounds, but the jokes are mild at best, with a weak running gag that brings the film to an abrupt conclusion.

Do yourself a big favor and don't watch it!
