When the trainman receives the telegram via the train order hoop, he keeps the hoop on board. In correct railroad practice, he would have extracted the paper and dropped the hoop to the ground so that the operator could recover it for future re-use.
Female reporter Kay Bentley (played by Lynn Bari) seems oblivious to the fact that her attempts to assist Helen Carlson (played by Mary Beth Hughes) in running away on impulse to South America with Everett Jason (played by Louis Jean Heydt), would be considered an obstruction of justice or, at the very least, interfering with a potential witness, by preventing Helen from making her crucial testimony in court required to absolve an innocent person from being convicted. Worse, such selfish, indeed reckless behaviour on Kay's part doesn't seem to discourage Michael Shayne (played by Lloyd Nolan) from continuing to pursue his ongoing interest in marrying her despite the fact she deliberately defied Shayne's responsibility in his duty to protect Helen.
