Ilka Grüning: Frau Franken
Quotes
-
Kurt Franken : I tell you, it would've given you the thrill of your lives to see the way we rolled over them. Denmark, Norway, Belgium, France. One after the other - like a steam roller.
Frau Franken : Save the coffee grounds, Ella.
Kurt Franken : The Führer is right - we have the greatest military machine ever created.
Dr. Franken : I remember another leader who said that once.
Kurt Franken : Ach - sour grapes, father. You lost your war - we'll win ours.
Ella : Then we'll get back our colonies and have good coffee again.

Kurt Franken : [reading the official telegram] 'It is our duty to inform you that your son, Carl Müller, died on the battleship Bismarck, defending his fatherland. Heil Hitler'. Well, we are at war, Herr Müller.
Herr Müller : Yes - we are at war. But can you tell me why?
Kurt Franken : Of course. To restore Germany's place in the world. We were a weak and despised nation before. Now everyone respects us - they are afraid of us.
Herr Müller : [ironically] I must remember this - they are afraid of us. I'll tell my wife - it will comfort her so that she won't need any medicine to sleep. Yes - I'll put this sign over my son's grave - they are afraid of us. This will make him happy. This will take his place in all our hearts.
Frau Franken : Herr Müller, please.
Kurt Franken : I'm surprised at you, Herr Müller. Karl died for a great cause.
Herr Müller : This is a great cause? I say it is a great lie!
Kurt Franken : I won't listen to you Herr Müller. You are a traitor to your son and an enemy of the State.
