As originally released, this was the final MGM cartoon with the standard MGM live-action lion logo.
The last Tom and Jerry cartoon animated by Cecil Surry.
The establishing background scenes of the bowling alley, down to the waxed lanes, is accurately depicted, as were most of the cartoons from this era. Bowling was a popular pastime during the war, and GI' s brought the game with them overseas, where it also caught on.
Many long-vanished bowling alley accoutrements are seen in the short, including bowling ball returns where the balls are visible, towel stands and the once-ubiquitous cigarette ash/butt containers, which were filled with fine, white sand.
Tom looks more like a real cat in this early short. His stomach is pale grey, but would be one white in later renditions.
