America the Dull...

Warning: Spoilers
I'm sorry to say that this Jane Withers drama about life in the Deep South is a boring look at a teenage 4-H club where newcomer Withers is branded a troublemaker when she allegedly sends in information for a local cattle show that proves that Lynne Roberts' entry was not grade A beef...er cattle. She's a newcomer to town whose wealthy father has sent her to live with Grandmother Jane Darwell to get a plain old fashioned American education and after getting passed a rather snobbish introduction to the locals find other troubles.

Something tells me that the subject matter of a 4H Club is probably too dated to be timely past the decade during which it was released. it's rather sappy and stereotypical with Louise beavers and Ben Carter providing some humor but raising a few eyebrows as Darwell's maid and Wither's driver. Young Darryl Hickman plays the little local boy whom Withers befriends, while Roman Behren plays Robert's father who has a gambling and drinking problem. To somber and depressing, this film is difficult to sit through, showing that just because a film has a plot line doesn't mean that people will be interested in it.
