The Range Busters, Dusty King (John King), Dave Sharpe (David Sharpe) and Alibi Terhune (Max Terhune), attempt to track down a gang of robbers. A situation arises that, in order to solve a crime that's been committed by the renegades, the trio finds that a necessary clue to the solution of the mystery involves the discovery of the favorite song of a bandit who has already been murdered. This film has four Range Busters since David Sharpe was entered his World War Two service before it was finished. Rex Lease was brought in to replace him. The film covers his exit, thusly: At the start of film Alibi tells Dusty that Dave will join Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders the first chance he gets. About midway of the film, Dave takes one of the outlaws to Marshal Hammond (Steve Clark) and following that, is shown standing outside of a recruiting office. Hammond sends Rex Lease to advise Dusty and Alibi that Dave has joined the Rough Riders and, at that point, Dusty asks Lease to stay on and help.
