In the early scene where Nell and Lord Mortimer drive by in a carriage, Nell is holding her cockatoo, whose position and behavior change completely between camera angles: it goes back and forth between sitting absolutely still facing one camera, and facing the other camera and bending down, biting its tail.
At the fête, the violinists are shown playing with 20th-century bows.
Nell Bowen's bird is a Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, native to Australia. They were not imported to Europe until after 1788.
