Sex & Nudity

  • Lucy and Ricky sleep in the same bed in some episodes.
  • Sometimes Lucy & Ethel's cleavage shows a tiny bit in some episodes.
  • Ricky is shirtless & takes a shower & bath in some episodes. No nudity is shown.
  • Ricky spanks Lucy in several episodes.
  • Lucy and Ricky share passionate kisses. Ricky kisses Lucy's neck in a few episodes.

  • Some gun use but no one is ever hurt and it's always for laughs.
  • Some very, very mild and brief comic violence in some episodes.

Profanity

  • The show was made before profane language was allowed on TV.
  • Some racism but it's never encouraged and often Ricky is the smartest and most successful in the room and his English is much better than Lucy's Spanish

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Men give Ricky bottles of beer at a party. Fred & Ricky can be seen drinking beer in some episodes.
  • Lucy and Ricky smoke cigarettes occasionally. Infrequent and very mild drinking, but this is just at parties and things. Nobody gets drunk, with one exception (see below).
  • In a famous episode, "Lucy Does a TV Commercial" (Season 1, Episode 30), Lucy becomes increasingly intoxicated from consuming a bottle of health tonic with high alcohol content. Played purely for comedic effect.
