Hey, "The Amazing Race" fans. Tonight, May 8, 2024, another new episode of The Amazing Race's current season 36 did indeed hit the air, and another unlucky team got the boot at the end. Tonight's new episode kicked off with the teams arriving in the Dominican Republic for the very first time in the show's history to kick off this leg of the race. They immediately got hit with a Roadblock challenge. During it, one of the team members had to navigate a series of waterfalls and memorize ten Taíno petroglyph symbols. Then, arrange the symbols in chronological order to get their next clue. After the teams successfully wrapped up that Roadblock challenge, they had to hit up Don Manuel’s Finca de Cacao to get their next clue. When they got there, they were given another challenge that required them to work together to harvest cacao pods, remove the seeds and...

Kishori Turner and Karishma Cordero did the opposite of skating by on Wednesday‘s “The Amazing Race 36.” Thinking the Roadblock in Santiago, Chile, was a skateboarding task, Karishma volunteered to do it. Unfortunately, the task was building a skateboard, something that is up Kishori’s alley. Suffice it to say, Karishma had a tough time and things got worse when she didn’t know how to extricate a bolt from an Allen wrench, leading to the cousins’ elimination.
“Now I have trauma with skateboards,” Karishma tells Gold Derby (watch above). “Every time I see one, it is triggering for me, but I did not think we would go out with a skateboard.”
“I didn’t either,” Kishori adds. “Karishma grew up skateboarding, so I did have faith in her, but you just don’t really know what curveballs are gonna be thrown your way. … I was like, ‘What if it’s building,...

Steve Cargile and Anna Leigh Wilson got off to an inauspicious start on “The Amazing Racer 35’s” penultimate leg in Dublin. The father and daughter were last heading into the first task — swimming in the Irish Sea — and Steve struggled in the freezing water, but they managed to get to the “Riverdance” Roadblock in third and leave in third. And they might have made the final three had they not turned back to the parking garage where they had parked for the “Riverdance” Roadblock, which was not shown in the episode and resulted in them losing 20 to 25 minutes.
“Had we not had to go back — because we actually exited on the wrong floor — I think we could’ve been in the top three,” Anna Leigh tells Gold Derby (watch above). “I’ll regret that. I’ll have Ptsd for the rest of my life.”
“It’s always hindsight,” Steve adds.

Hey, "The Amazing Race" fans. Tonight, November 29, 2023, another new episode of The Amazing Race's current season 35 did indeed hit the air, and another unlucky team did get sent packing for not quite being fast enough at the end. Tonight's new episode kicked off with the teams learning they had to fly 1000 miles north to Stockholm, Sweden for the next leg of this race. Once they got to Stockholm, Sweden, they had to take a taxi to their next location. Then, they had to board a plane and do a tandem skydiving with a professional one at a time to get their next clue. After their skydiving event, the teams were directed to go to the island of Tynningö to get their next clue. Once they got there, they got hit with a Roadblock challenge. Toys have been a part of marketing for shows and films for a long time. The Masters of the Universe line of action figures came before the animated series, as we learned in the Netflix docuseries "The Toys That Made Us." The first "Star Wars" film toys were part of a mail-away campaign in 1978 before they were ready to be shipped. Toy marketing has also caused controversy in the past. Just think of the #WheresRey campaign when her figure was left out of a "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Monopoly set.
According to an interview /Film's own Rafael Motomayor did with animation writer Henry Gilroy, toys were a big reason for the cancelation of his animated series "G.I. Joe: Renegades." The show ran on The Hub from 2010 through 2011 for a single 26-episode season before being scrapped.

Color TVs, swimming pools and cars (especially cars). American culture of the 50s was fueled by desire for the newest status symbol – even the title of the latest monster movie was pitched to the upwardly mobile – get behind the wheel of the atomic powered Frankenstein 1970.
Take a look under the hood though and apart from a few modernistic bells and whistles (most notably its CinemaScope framing) director Howard Koch’s movie is doggedly retrograde. The swooning ingenues, skeptical villagers and dank dungeons – all would have fit comfortably in a Universal horror film of the 30’s.
The movie’s real attraction is a more than welcome blast from the past – Boris Karloff returns to Mary Shelley’s monsterverse...

Yes, it is a perfect title for a horror picture, but it belongs to an early film noir -- or as we discover, a murder thriller that previews the classic '40s noir visual look. Victor Mature is the man on the spot for a killing, Betty Grable and Carole Landis are a pair of sisters in danger, and Laird Cregar is the creepiest police detective in the history of the force.
