Not Tin Tan's Best
EdgarST8 March 2021
Many of the best elements of previous collaborations between Tin Tan and director Martínez Solares are here: first of all, screenwriter Juan García, musical director Manuel Esperón, and the same troupe of comedians, including Vitola, Marcelo and Borolas. But something does not work as funny and wild as in other productions, characterized by anarchic situations and a bit of pathos. I found the villains too unsympathetic and antithetical (the banker, his son and daughter, who is the love interest) and the way they get away with their mischivous actions, makes Tin Tan's character look like a bland caricature that sells out in the end. Even Dumas' inspiration doesn't save the day.
