Trivia | Assistant director Claude Sautet directed one third of the film after Maurice Labro fell ill. French filmmaker Bernard Tavernier's version is: "Lebro resented having [actor] Lino Ventura imposed on him. When his contract expired, he took off. The producer asked Sautet to finish the film. Sautet took over for the last few weeks. All the chase scenes around the cliffs at Etretat. The film's tone changed. The shots are sharp, precise. Sautet came into his own during Le fauve est lâché, a minor programmer [film]. And that's when Lino took notice of him." See more » |
Goofs | When Paul is meeting Raymond for the first time, as soon as he enters the house, Raymond lectures him in the hall. You can clearly see during this scene a rough cut during Raymond's speech. The actors don't have the same position and the intonation changes, indicating they were not able to shoot this scene in one go. See more » |
