The exterior of the building where the Vojnovic' family lives is that of 30 Radiceva Street in Zagreb. Their apartment's balcony is overlooking the building's inner courtyard.
When escaping from the Vojnovic house into a dark night, Ruth descends the Male Stube stairs to Kozarska Street, then runs to Ratkajev prolaz, where she's almost caught by the Gestapo car. While Ivo is returning home, in the attempt to find her, we can hear the church bells ring, and behind him we see the church of St. Martin's on Vlaska Street, Zagreb.
