Spanish mystery movie with known main actors and good secondaries , including a surprising and twisted finale

"There is someone behind the Door" results to be a s-so mystery crime with great actors giving overacting and theatrical performances . It deals with a playwright named Carlos : Arturo de Córdoba and his depressed and sick wife Julia : Aurora Bautista . To get better her health the marriage goes to a far resort nearly a beach , being accompanied by the marriage formed by Elena : Maria Dolores Pradera and Antonio: Manuel Alexandre . At hotel the wife doesn't cure , following taking pills and a large number of medicines . Then she hears beyond the door , at the next room , some voices of a guest , asking her for dishonest propositions. He is a presumed playboy who enamores and mistreats women. Then, a murder allegedly occurs on the location . The premise is the following : Who is the killer ? Is the jealous husband the main suspect of the killing ?

This is a crime movie that eventually becomes into a sentimental melodrama without too much interest . It is a psychological drama with a few roles , brief character studio, a light intrigue , however , it makes up for a twisted and unexpected final. The average and wooden performances don't help enough to get the essential plot developing . Main actor Arturo de Córdoba gives a passable acting , while Aurora Bautista as the unsettling wife is below average providing her usual theatrical and excessively stagy performance . They are finely assisted by a good support cast , such as : Jose Marco Davo as a cunning officer in law investigating the deeds , Felix Fernandez as a sympathetic waiter happy to find Spanish people , Maria Dolores Pradera , Manuel Alexandre, Maite Blasco , Marta Padovan and Jose Maria Caffarel .

It contains an atmospheric and evocative cinematography in black and white by the prestigious cameraman Alfredo Fraile . The motion picture was professionally written - along with ordinary playwright Alfonso Paso- and directed by Tulio Demicheli, though it has some flaws and failures . Tulio was a prolific Argentina craftsman who wrote , produced and directed a lot of films in Argentina , Mexico, Spain and Italy. His starts were as a writer , usually for director Mario Soffici . His film debut was Arrabalera 1949. In Mexico he shoots La Herida Luminosa 1956 based on Jose Maria Segarra novel. He emigrates Spain where create his own production company, shooting around thirty films from 1958 to 1977. As he makes commercial films of all kinds of genres, such as : Musical genre : Carmen La de Ronda , Charleston . Spaghetti Western : Desafio en Río Bravo, Un Hombre un Colt . Adventures : Hijo del Capitan Blood , La Primera Aventura . Thrillers : Nuestro Agente en Casa Blanca , Misión Lisboa , La Mujer Perdida , Coartada en Disco Rojo , Juego Sucio en Panamá . Terror : Los Monstruos del terror, among others. Rating : 5.5/10. Average, but passable and acceptable.
