McLaren, what a comedian!
Rodrigo_Amaro24 January 2014
As a way to introduce the very first Montreal International Film Festival, the organizers asked famed director Norman McLaren to produce a welcome short film. The result is one brief hilarious clip where McLaren fights with a rebel microphone who doesn't allow him to make his "Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen" speech.

The microphone changes from positions, escapes from the host several times whenever he's about to start his sentence, and it never stops. Also tenacious is the director/host who keeps finding ways to control the object. Mr. McLaren doesn't use much from his bag of tricks, except for some small and nice effects and editing but he proves to be a gifted comedian partnered with this living object. The ending of the battle is epic.

Might look simplistic now but it gets a trophy for being greatly produced, a very amusing work. 10/10
