During the first four seasons, series sponsor, th Ford Motor Company, put their cars on the show. The Baxters' family cars were always Fords. In 1964, the show became one of the first to show its characters riding in a Mustang, which had just been introduced.
The exterior of the Baxter's home was also used as the Murtaughs of Lethal Weapon (1987), and it's follow-up films.
The vocal version of the theme (sung by The Modernaires) was heard over the end credits of the' first 8 episodes. From then on, an instrumental version was used.,
Bobby Buntrock (Harold Baxter) was the lone child on the series. After Hazel (1961), he appeared in two episodes of The Virginian (1962). Seven years later, he died in an auto accident in South Dakota, age 21.
The series was noted for also having a sponsor, who's product (Hidden Magic hairspray) was both the first of its kind (though short-lived; it had 2 nasty side effects - it attracted bees, and it caused bleached hair to turn green), and appears in the closing credits. It's still there, decades later.
