A modest yet compelling War picture
Forca844 April 2020
All of the usual suspects are here... Voiceovers, Stock footage, and a lush Jungle set. 6 Troopers are tasked to meet a mysterious woman to parlay information from. Vital information to have a leg up against the enemy Japanese. Of this crew only one will survive. Despite it's cliches it manages to elicit suspense and sympathy. Sure it's no sprawling War saga. But it gives a voice to the poor civilians caught in the middle. And to the Soldiers... Led by their superiors. Very nicely done little known War film.

Don't expect a masterpiece but...

Warning: Spoilers
As an Edward L Cahn movie, you can guess that's not BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER KWAI or FIXED BAYONETS. But I was nevertheless surprised by the darkness of this story telling the mission of a group of GI - during WW2 - who must prevent Japanese army to penetrate into India from Burma. They are dropped by parachute and then have to get help from the natives; and in this tale it is native girls...

Of course, you can guess what that means. But it's a downbeat story, very sad in the ending. I won't say more. Just one thing, the characters are not uninteresting. Among the best Edward L Cahn's films for me, though not his most known.

I recommend it.

Worth watching beczuse it's quite possibly the worst war movie I've ever seen.

From the opening sequence where the paratroopers plane turns from a B26 Marauder to a C47 and back again, to the pristinely clean and ironed uniforms of the jungle-living Japanese and Americans not to mention their well kept hair, even during a judo fight, this one is 'special'.

Maybe not the worst war movie made

This may not be the worst war movie ever made, but it's up there. Terrible production values, bad acting, a ridiculous story line, it doesn't have much right with it.
